Channel Break-Throughs with Dual DPVR80
crunchie

I'm on my second Dual DPVR80 from asda and both units display a slight channel break-through on the TV screen which is noticeable on a still image or a menu screen. In other words I can see faint scrolling text, BBC logos, etc. I've tried a -12dB cut on my aerial input and no different, and I've swapped RF cables and scarts to no avail - the problem is still there even when I unplug the aerial completely! TV is fine, as is the DVD player. Software 4.9 on the digibox.

Is this a characteristic of a twin-tuner PVR and am I stuck with it, or should I try another brand? Thanks.

This problem is sometimes down to a faulty (or cheap) SCART cable from the box to the TV...

Yeah, sounds like the scart lead to me. Do I remember correctly that the Dual PVR from Asda comes with a scart lead (unlike the Digihome from Argos)? Probably this is a very cheap quality cable.

Have you tried with a fully shielded scart cable? You can usually tell which is which by the cable thickness. Fully screened ones are approx 10mm diameter, and therefore much thicker and heavier than the cheap kinds.

Sounds like SCART to me too.

After getting a Goodmans-branded version of one of these boxes the other day, I simply tossed the SCART cable that came with it to the pile of cables which I've been collecting for years. All you need is a decent-quality SCART cable [much thicker than the cheap and nasty one that comes with the unit]
