Is Clare doing too much?

I was looking at the rankings and Clare seems to have come 3rd or 4th with lots of people!

I actually agreed with Jason last night.

Whilst Clare did amazing moves she almost had gritted teeth with the effort of getting from move to move sooo quickly. It all looked very scatty and scruffy to me with no polish or finish!

I actually also thought Lisa is going that way too. Compared to previous weeks her performance did not look so effortless, you could see she was really trying too!

Compared to Kyran who this week did some amazing skating solo, and had a much simpler routine.

I agree with Jason that it's quality over quantity, and I think Kyran really deserved top spot this week!

Hopefully the girls will go back to basics next week and give a great performance!

If these three aren't in the final there is no justice!

Clare wasn't her normal self at all out there last night. Wobbly on the ice even. I fully expect her to be back and gunning next week.

I think Clare made a mistake by altering the routine just hours before the show. It wasn't as polished as usual, I felt Kieran and Emily were the best on Saturday.

Echoed apart from Lisa being in the final. I would rather see Duncan in there, or Emily.

Yep I think Clare's going for too much stuff - apart from anything else it's only 90 seconds of music, too many elements make it look a bit "busy". The other thing that seems to be happening is that, rather than going for a steady rate of improvement, Clare's anxiety at being top and the pressure it looks like she's feeling to stay there is translating into her progress being mainly in the lifts, and the performance gets one-sided. Even Nicky Slater said on This Morning that he thought, on reflection, he shouldn't have marked her so highly. I still think she could continue being one of the best, but my money's on Kyran too at the moment

I don't know what it is about CLare, I actually want to like her, but she just bugs me.

Her skating is technically very good, but it's all set pieces, and I don't feel it connects at all or has any fluidity.
I never have that WOW feeling afterwards, eventhoguh she has a high level of difficulty in her performances.

Her personality is a but grating too, I dunno she is just taking it too serously or something she shoudl relax and enjoy it a bit more, and smile.
Not a forced smile but a relaxed smile that she's enjoying herself.

I agree that Clare (and Lisa) are pushing it too hard in order to be top of the leader board.

At this stage I think its more important to stay in and give a great performance with sound skating skills - especially the required element, rather than trying to incorporate too many lifts and tricks which are obviously leaving Clare a bit frazzled.

Kyran's skating is confident and impressive because he has worked hard to master the movement across the ice which the judges look for.
Both Clare and Lisa could achieve this if they focussed more on quality skating rather than acrobatics.

In the last series, Bonnie was fantastic at the lifts and the tricks but she never had the confidence on the ice that Gaynor achieved by working hard, with Daniel, on the basic skating flow which links all the lifts and tricks together.

I can see Daniel beginning to aciheve the same sort of success with Emily...she is beginning to look so much more confident on the ice and like Gaynor, she was very shaky at the start.

I totally agree Clare looked rushed and like she was just racing to get through it whereas Emily seemed to be enjoying herself much more

far, far too much and her performance showed it. Compare her with Emily, her routine was understated but what she did, she did as well as any pro. The way she presented her arms and upper body was excellent. Clare on the other hand packed too much in and the so called lift when she was upside down standing on her head was inelegant and unnecessary

But the routine is worked out for her by the choreographers.
Surely its they that need to listen to the judges. Claire can't be blamed for a personality that is willing to have a go at anything they give her. It would be sad if T&D and Karen push the two young girls out of the competition by pushing them too hard.

I think they probably push themselves hard, but I don't think either of them can be faulted in terms of skating ability!

I hope we don't have a repeat of last year where someone who basically gets pushed/pulled around the ice (like Daniel did for Gaynor and is doing for Emily) survives over contestants like Claire and Lisa who are at least demonstrating guts, ability and nerve on a par with some of the male contestants!!

I totally agree moondancer but fear it will happen again this year as everyone is already wowing Emily's performance, which compared to her earlier performances was excellent but compared to Lisa and Clare, even with the scruffiness due to difficult moves, was far inferior.

The public love a "journey" and just like DOI and SCD last year Emily is giving it to them.

There is no secret I am a massive Lisa fan, but I would be happy for either Kyran or Clare to win it instead as long as the winner is someone with talent, not the one who improved the most, or the one that people like the most from their public persona.

Lets not forget, Grace was hated and won Cirque due to talent and ability, lets hope terrestrial viewers vote for talent.... Just for a change!

I'm sorry, it is about skating lifiting and performance and Emily was mesmerising last weekend. Clare was wobbly and the routine seemed disjointed. Lisa was given harder lifts but to offset that it was nowhere near as good a heartfelt performance as Emily.

For the record, I'm presently looking to Clare or Kyran to win.
