Pensioners Dot and Jim Branning are to soon take in a refugee child! It will explore the thorny political issue of immigration. They are plunged into deep crisis when they desperately attempt to take care of the abandoned tot! It will be very dramatic stuff and June Brown has said the plot has a depressing nature. It also says Jim's marriage to Dot will be put at risk. (Hence the new Jim & the lap dancer storyline)

(The Sun did report this and now Inside Soap are confirming this)

Also when was the last time Dot or another oldie took centre stage on the front cover of Inside Soap?

Maybe fans will care about this story, and will watch. I'm not really caring about the show anymore. I remember when it used to be compulsive viewing!

I think 2007 has been fab for EE so far! Although last week with stacy/max and dawn/may/rob and bert/jay i wanted to turn of for good. It was dire.

This storyline whilst im delighted more screen time for dot and jim i think its too depressing and just a bit boring....jim and a lapdancer-like yea thats gonna happen in real life....
All this stress will kill poor dot...god help us all when that day comes....

Older ee characters with decent storylines makes more people watch - they know who dot and jim are - even if they havent watched the soap for ages,

Is it true june brown wanted to quit over this storyline because she didnt like it??
