Emmerdale's Tates

I thought last night's episode was very moving.
Im glad Zoe wants to keep her baby, but I was very suprised at Chris, agreeing that it was the best thing to happen.

I was expecting him to go off on one when Zoe told him she was going to keep Jean, just goes to show that underneath that tough exterior of his, that he is a softie who loves kids.

Not half as surprised as Charity! She's just disowned Debbie because she thought it would lose her Chris and all that goes with the Tatedom. I feel for her. I'm also glad Zoe has decided to keep Jean, though I think I'd be wanting to change her name, too...

I'm glad too, but I was really surprised. He was SO against it throughout her pregnancy, annoyed that she had called the baby after their mother ... Was it because he had SEEN the baby, do you think?

Yes I think it was cus of the way he saw Zoe was with her. He kinda melted, and that little smile appeared on his face.

I can see what you mean about changing her name, it's kinda an old name, but she did name her after her Mother.

When I had my son I wanted to call him after my Dad and Grandad (William) but thought the name was old fashioned, but I stuck with William and I am glad I did so too. It's not a common name but still I know a few William's the same age as my son.

It's funny how you associate some names with old people. But then somebody calls a child by that name and it doesn't seem so old-fashioned any more. None of the baby's contemporaries will think it's an old name, because they're too young to have known any other Jeans. I suppose if you think of jean as in levis etc it sounds better.

Alot of the old names are coming back into 'fashion' now.

Charlie
William
Harry

but if you think about it, even Sarah is a name from 'the old days'.

Some names are classics that never go out of fashion.

Matthew
Mark
Luke
John

William and Harry are because of the princes I guess.

Jack is another name that used to be an old name but is now very trendy.

I have connections with our local school, names seem to go around in circles. Edith, Scarlet, Phoebe, Florence, Frederick, Roderick,Alan. I will probably think of a load more names I have come accross in the past five years, that I had not for years.

I have just stared to watch Emerdale after about five months, infact I have tried to glance at all the soaps over the past week, its amazing how many things change and how many new faces there seems to be. I wonder who Debbies dad is, could it be another member of the family,? Kaine perhaps, has anyone heard any rumours??

Really, wow all good psychology on my part, had not seen anything about it on here, come and looked for the first time to night to see if there was a thread for emmerdale, I must be more alert than I feel, LOL

By the looks of things though, there aren't enough threads on Emmerdale, mostly EE and Corrie.

I used to live nr. where they filmed Emmerdale.

Seth occasionally drinks in the same pub as my Aunt.
Used to do a charity walk every year for MacMillan (cancer research) and the last year we did it. Eric Pollard came along with us, he walked hand-cuffed to a police woman. He was really nice.
And once I was on my way back from the shop and this really nice car pulled up, asking for directions to the next village. After I gave him directions and he drove off, I said to my friend who was with me ' I recognise him', she did too. Then it dawned on me that he played Emily's dad. A few weeks later he left Emmerdale.

Strange isn't it how often the actors are very different folks in real life to how the character they play portray's them.

The guy who played Emily's Dad looked the same, but it was his voice that threw me, he sounded different.

Chris - who plays Eric is a really really nice and funny man in real life.
