Looks like end of the Dabs box
Shaddax

I have a £65 recon Dabs Digihome box.

It has behaved much like everyone else's so far (good and bad) but recently ALL channels are being dropped (usually at night). I am only left with the "now & next". I put it down to variable signal strength as it usually restores by the next day, however, a 1st time installation does pull the channels back in. This leads me to thinking that it is a fault on the Digi.
I was going to go to Asda for a Dual after getting an RMA from Dabs but my local Asdas don't seem to have any.

Any comments, ideas etc welcome before I swap boxes.

touch wood I have had a flawless first week with my Dabs box..

how long have you had it..? I ask this because by looking at how the reviews on Dabs have got better and better over time I would like to think that they might actually now be having them looked at, so I wonder if it is worth risking a replacement..

I personally wanted the £80 asda one but our store is the same as yours, they dont stock, did you double check at cussy service desk at asda as a couple of people have reported them being in a different section than the normal electricals..

as I say though mine is working perfectly *touches wood again*

A guy on eBay is shifting these for £50-60 refurbished (that is the average price they go for). I bought one and it was in perfect condition, the box was tatty and the manual was a bit battered but the box/remote were like new.

They only come with a 30 day warranty but for that price it didn't bother me.

you could always get the Digihome PVR80 from Argos, it's the same machine.

Just as a follow up, I found 2 Dual machines at a local Asda superstore (16th Feb), so they are still around, although not in my local "regular" Asdas

And, I think, still being restocked as well. A post a while ago said Asda Roehampton had none in stock. When I went last week, they had half a dozen or so.

I think these are rebadged just for ASDA - the help section in the manual refers to an ASDA helpline. If they have gone to the effort of getting them rebadged and the manual reprinted, I would suspect they will be around for a while rather than just being a one-off special.

Now it really looks like the end of the Dabs box

My order has gone from "Due in 1-2 days" to "Obsolete". I've cancelled the whole order (I'd added a keyboard & mouse and serial cable [for the upgrade, great excitement!] to take advantage of £10 voucher).

Disgusted with Dabs, they didn't notify me that it had become unavailable, I only noticed cos I check my order 10 times a day

Now what can I get? Must be for peanuts, mind!

Bummer Parthena!

I suppose it depends on what you call peanuts. The Dabs machines were good value, however delivery was £6 making £71, the guarrantee was 6 months and although they were refurbished they were not new.
The Dual at Asda costs £80, 12 month guarrantee, easier and cheaper to return should things go wrong, better looking (slightly) they are new ...and they have them in stock NOW - all this for only £9 more.
Feel better now??

No luck Clapham Junction is the only reasonably convenient branch I've got - they say they had them in 'briefly', but no more.

Is the Roehampton branch (on the A3) too far out of your way? I got mine from there early in February.

Just when things were looking brighter!

As I said in post #5 I could not find a Dual at any of my local "regular" Asdas but when I went to the Supercentre they had a couple. There is a Supercentre at Watford if that is not too far away? Probably worth a phone call.

What's an A3? (I don't drive.)

Asda HO say there's a superstore on the Old Kent Road, I might give them a ring but it would be venturing into foreign territory for me - and Watford's virtually a different country

I hope I don't end up plumping for one of the many Digifusions on eBay, or something equally disastrous.

Oooooooooh Just managed to bag an 80gb Digihome from eBay for £55 inclusive

Hope I'll still be all smiles after I get it... I'm treating it as a testbed for familiarising myself with the ins-and-outs, then maybe I'll upgrade later.

Why do these things happen on a Friday evening so that I'll have to wait dayz 'n dayz to get my new gadget?

The Dabs refurb was revivified yesterday - the bums! I bet they obsoleted it solely to stop me using my voucher

I coulda had the 80gb Digihome, new keyboard, optical mouse, and serial cable for £72 delivered.
