it is being reported on itv news that TT have come under fire for not mentioning their former band mate Robbie who is currently in rehab, last night at the Brits. Do you think they should have said something about Robbie? wished him well?

No. He was mentioned already by others, and there's no reason they should be overshadowed by him.

No. He left the band ten years ago, couldn't be arsed to turn up to their reunion and is basically a egotistical knob. Why should they?

No! They extended the hand of friendship to him when they reformed. He could have turned up and sung one song at any venue on the tour but he didn't make any effort to support them. I'm not sure he even wished them well in the media at all.

Take that were right not to allow robbie steal the attention. Yu'd swear robbie was first celeb to go to rehab. anyway at least TT didnt mock the situation like many others.

I'm fully in agreement with all the replies above.

Over the past 10 years, I think Take That have been very fair and gracious towards Robbie. The same cannot be said about Robbie in his comments about Take That over the years.

The Take That comeback had nothing to do with Robbie at all ... so why should they have to mention him at every opportunity? If it were an outstanding achievement award, possibly ... but Robbie had nothing to do with the success of 'Patience', for which they were being rewarded.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that privately, they have indeed sent their best wishes to Robbie at this time. It sounds like another stupid stunt by Robbie's PR team and probably doesn't reflect Robbie's real feelings on the matter at all.

How times have changed .... Robbie's team now needing to get some publicity off the back of Take That's success ....

I was a bit surprised that they didn't mention Robbie, but considering he'd already been mentioned earlier,on reflection there seemed little point.

As others have said, it was their achievement from new work that they were celebrating anyway.

They won their award for Patience, Robbie, as much as I do like him at times, had no hand in it, so it's not a snub, he doesnt need to be thanked for something he didn't have a part in doing. As for the rehab thing? Meh, everyone else said something, I'm sure they've sent him personal messages...or not...lol

I think where the press are concerned they have been blaming the boys for part of Robbie's demise ad entering rehab, so if they had of said something they would have been rubbing it in. But they never so they have attacked then that way.

IMO

Oooh, tell me more! How have the press been creditting TT with Robbie's demise?

Have TT been slagging him off?

Have TT been bitter towards him?

Have TT given up and gone into rehab to make him look bad?

Or have TT picked themselves up and gone on to make good again, even offering the hand of friendship in the processes?

Ah yes, the latter I think - the insensitive swine!

I am not, and never have been, a TT fan, but neither have I ever been a Robbie fan, so I reckon I can be fairly objective on this.

Robbie hasn't been part of the group for nearly 12 years; they don't have to be indebted to him forever.

The comeback is all about them as a four-piece band. Robbie left years ago and has never been exactly flattering towards his ex-bandmates in the press.

but they were in the band together for many years and have openly said that they would like to work again with Robbie or see him appear at one of their live shows so its not like their is huge animosity. surely Robbie's situation deserved a mention by the band. i mean if joss stone can manage to mention it...

While I think a mention wouldnt have gone amiss to their old mucker the cynic inside me thinks that maybe the timing of the chubsters announcement that he was going in to rehab had a lot to do with trying to be the big story of the Brits without him even being there.
Maybe im just too cynical?

as i remember- altough it was a long time ago it was robbies decision to start taking drugs and getting drunk at every oppotunity and as i've heard from the horses mouth TT gave him an ultimatum- either sort yourself out of leave. He decided to leave then did nothing but slag TT off and get drunk and high some more. And as i also recall i have never in the past 10/11 years hear robbie once mention TT or Guy Chambers or thank them for his succes, when without them he would not be where he is now.
So in that case although i'm sure there is no annimosity why should TT thank someone for something that has nothing to do with him. but saying that a get well soon could have been said if not onstage then back stage when fern interviewed them.

I can't believe this! Thank goodness this thread is sensible and not taking the viewpoint of (apparently) Robbie's people. Take That should be just allowed to get on with it and stop being made to feel awkward about Robbie being or not being with them. Remember they actually had 2 (yes 2) hit records AFTER Robbie left them, so it's not like he left and they were finished at the time. They had Never Forget and How Deep is Your Love? OK so Robbie's vocals were still on the recorded versions of Never, but they survived as a four piece for a while after his demise in the mid-90's. I do agree that the news of Robbie in Rehab has been leaked at an appropriate time (Brits and the new single Shes Madonna, out imminently in competition with Shine) but I do not think the boys should have felt it necessary to say anything. I for one hope he never rejoins them. He will just drag them all down with him and it would be horrible.

Take That have now been a four-piece band for a long time. By the time they officially split in 1996, Robbie had already left.

Unless he ever decides to reunite with them again, his time with TT is over and they don't need to keep acknowledging somebody who isn't contributing to their recent material.

Does everybody have to pay respect to that talentless ****? The very fact he has won so many Brit awards and credible artists have won none shows up that pointless backslapping ceremony for what it really is anyway.
