Hi

I see three are offering the following phones

http://threestore.three.co.uk/planof...x?tariffid=546

SE K610i

SE Z610i

LG U400

LG U880

LG U300

For £15 on an 18 month contract to include either

500 x network minutes

or

75 x network minutes
and
600 texts

It seems a good , when compared to my 02 400 mins , 100 texts at £30 per month

Are the phones any good ?

Looking around the reviews it sems to be conflicting advice , does the LG U400 comes with a SD memory card or not

I signed up for it for my Mum. Arrives 26th. I wanted it later but they wouldn't let me as the offer apparently ends 28th February.

I know 3 have a history of extending promotional periods but they seem more keen to end this one as planed on 28th Feb. I'll believe it when it happens mind, but anyone interested in the deal should sign up before 1st March.

The call time is the only thing good about three.
Avoid them like the plague.
Their customer services are terrible.

I dont find 3 that bad and their coverage seems better than my t-mobile phone by some way.

Hi

We have dealt with three for a few years now , in the early days the phones were micky mouse and the battery life was laughable

But now with the intro of branded phones such as SE , Nokia and Motorola things have greatly improved

Just beware they dont let you try the service now. The 14 day peace of mind guarnatee does not allow you to return a handset if it is used to make or receive calls or take a photo.

If you use a 3 contract phone at all after it arrives or you take it home you are likely to be stuck with it for the duration of the contract whether the coverage and service levels suit you or not.

I thought a cooling-off period was a legal requirement not at a company's whim?

Yes. If you look at the new terms and conditions it says your statuary rights are not effected so the distance selling law still applies if you order online.

I remember when i had phones on 3 and they were faulty so i took them back and got them exchanged/refunded under the 14 day money back guarantee. Is that still in place or has that changed too? Not that im thinking of going to 3 again because i cant stand them. I dont know if they've got better or not since then and the last time i actually dealt with them was back in July 2004 - July 2005 ...

It has got worse believe me.To qualify for the 14 day peace of mind guarantee you cant even use the phone.I am having trouble with three over a faulty phone.I dont want it repaired or replaced.I have managed to get the contract cancelled, after having the phone for one week.It was the indian call centre that sorted it.The english call centre is full of the most arrogant women. Most unhelpful.

Thats a bit rough, their online tariff gives you 600 minutes, 1000 texts, long weekends, rollover minutes for a month, for £35 a month

Just spoke to a 3 sales rep on online chat and he couldn't give me the above deal on W850i which is the phone I wanted. The K610 has no walkman and only 64mb internal memory. The best deal he could offer on W850i was £17.50 half price line rental a month for 10 months then £35 a month thereafter which I wasn't interested in. He did give me a promo code for a free bluetooth headset though!

Hi

Not when its 9 months into a 12 month contract anything is an improvement

Looking at the deal as a whole it was a decent deal , as it got my son the brand new phone he wanted a SE W550I with the equivalent ( by redemption ) of 7 months free and 5 months @£30 , total for 12 months = £150.

With Free speakers and £40 discount for introducing a friend.

A Total for the 12 months is £150 less £40 IAF = £110

If divided by 12 months gives a monthly average of £9.16 per month with 200 mins , 100 texts , a brand new phone and free speakers

He got the phone and I got the sim and mins as I put him on the 02 payg tariff .

I was offered the 600 mins but turned it down as it was another £5 on top of the £30 per month

The only network that offers anything like that (on contract) is T-Mobile and their UFix tariff; although they're not the best value compared to Flext or other networks.

To be fair to 3 - and I've never seen this to the same extent on any other network - The excellent 'My 3' function is usually only 2 or 3 button presses away and, for free, will let you know onscreen how many minutes (or Texts, MMS's, Video Call Minutes, Data and Download credit, if these are in your priceplan) you have left.

It's saved me a FORTUNE over the years...

You can use your phone as a modem but it's £2 a MB on 3. Some phone browsing add-ons are available to browse the Internet.

Some on-line dealers are now offering this contract with cashback (Mobileshop and Dial-a-Phone).

Looks reasonable if you have decent 3 coverage in your area and don't require customer support.

Hi

I signed up to this deal yesterday on the LG U400, so far its great! Coverage is excellent and the customer service is good. Plus when I was at the shop setting up the contract they gave me a free bluetooth headset becuase I had to wait for a sales consultant to be free! can't complain at that!

terrible phone imo.

My g/f has had one on 3 for a few months now and had nothing but bother from it. She just today got it swapped over for a SE k800i which she is much happier with.
