Anyone had any experience of the retentions dept at three, is it any good or am i likely to find better deals on the high street?

Retentions are usually very good, especially if you just phone up and ask for your PAC code.

They USUALLY beat new high street deals, but not always. See what the shops offer and see what you can get out of them.

The only experience of three retentions was when they tried to offer me the same phone i already had on the very same contract even though i was using more minutes than my contract gave me!! how bizarre!!! the people i spoke with where in india and it sounded like what they were saying was coming from a piece of paper attached to the desk. i ended up asking for my pac code and was spoken over at every opportunity. I'm now with t-mobile and enjoying speaking to english call centres

3 will offer some fantastic deals if you keep your handset and receive lots of calls.

me mate is on their 750 package, whatever that is, and just got it for £4pcm.

I don't use my mobile much, and phoned to cancel.

They offered me 100 mins + 100 texts per month for £5 for 12m - that's £5 for the year not per month.

What exactly is the retentions department?

I'm on 3 and coming up to the end of a 12month contract, should I be phoning them?

its the dept within 3 that try and keep customers who are looking to leave - say you ask for your PAc code, you will be transferred to the retentions dept and they will try and tempt you into staying with three.

Ah OK, sounds good

I thought maybe it meant keeping your old handset (the rentention part) and just taking a cheaper tariff.

I'll definitely give them a chance to tempt me!

Thanks for the info!

They were very good. When I rang for my PAC they offered me 400 mins, 250 texts, 25 multi media messages, 25 video call mins/month all free for 10 months on a 12 month contract so I basically pay £70 for the last 2 months and that's it. I had to agree to no upgrade though.
