Ok here goes (oh and hi everyone by the way)....

Heres the question I cant work out the answer to myself, or from Tiscali having rung them and spoken to their sales.

I am on the look out for a new broadband provider once my line has continued clearing.
My exchange ISNT unbundled by Tisacli but it IS unbundled by Homechoice!

Now heres the part I dont know for sure....

If I go for Tiscali broadband, would I be able to get Tiscali TV too, considering that my exchange is unbundled with Homechoice, or do you have to be unbundled with Tisacli LLU to get the TV service as well as the broadband?

Homechocie made it clear today that if I signed up with them, I would remain with them only with no interaction with Tiscali at all... so I dont know if this helps answer my question?

What do you reckon - anyone?

If they are having no interaction between the networks, then no you won't be able to get TV service from Tiscali on a HC unbundled exchange. I find it hard to believe however, that they don't intend to replace HC at some point. It would make sense once Tiscali TV is up an running to reconfigure the exchanges to put the HC customers onto their network and only have to run one system.

See now you are thinking sensibly.. which is what I was doing... but apparently according to the sales at Homechoice today this WILL NOT be happening, and Homechoice will remain as Homechoice for the indefinate future.

I for one am dissapointed as I would have gone for tiscali broadband and tv, which now just leaves me to stay with Sky tv and get their crappy broadband service ...

excuse me while I go away and grizzle!

Wait until March 1st and see what happens. I can't imagine HC will not be merged with Tiscali. They are obviously going to be the same infrastructure so on March 1st I would expect you can sign up to Tiscali and use the HC equipment in your exchange ... as a Tiscali customer.

Forgive me if I'm missing a point here but what difference does it make if it's Tiscali or Homechoice?

If it's a difference in subscription rates you could always ask Homechoice to price match - hey, they might even give you a couple of months free.

As I've said on another thread, Tiscali have integrated some of Homechoice's pages into their own. This includes the postcode checker at http://www.tiscali.co.uk/music/vmx/index.html - give it a try...

You'd think that behind the scenes they'd do some network rationalisation for cost reasons... though this takes time, money, etc...

I suspect we will be going Tiscali, given their logo is subtly incorporated into the EPG, and the Sci Fi channel of the month trailer uses their corporate style and colours.

Think your all missing the point HC and tiscali have merged its not a total buy out
this allowed more investment in to HC on the basis that tiscali would then use HC Technology to offer a tv service this then would build up a very large customer base all around the country.
If tiscali donot match up i think you will find HC will then part company
All this so it can be sold off to the biggest bidder later

They paid in shares didn't they? therefore shareholders of HC have shares in the merged company.

Tiscali are talking in terms of an acquisition and even if the Homechoice Shareholders have been paid in Tiscali Shares I cannot see a demerger being practicable.

On the original point, Tiscali's Press release said "Tiscali TV launches on 1 March 2007 when over 40,000 Homechoice subscribers will become Tiscali TV customers and immediately benefit from the new competitive offer of broadband plus TV for £14.99."

http://www.tiscali.co.uk/technology/...iscali-tv.html

I therefore would imagine that reece1605 should be able to sign up to Tiscali TV on 1st March but check with Customer Services nearer the time...

Yes, but VNL haven't issued a Press Release since June last year on that site and don't mention any joinup with Tiscali at all.

Tiscali's Press Release Centre states the following

http://www.tiscali.co.uk/presscentre...onetworks.html

Pursuant to this agreement, Video Networks International Ltd (VNIL) would contribute 100% of their UK operations - Video Networks Ltd (VNL) - into Tiscali UK Ltd, fully owned subsidiary of Tiscali SpA, in exchange for an interest in Tiscali UK. As a result, Tiscali SpA would control 88.5% of Tiscali UK, while VNIL would own 11.5%. The agreement is expected to become effective in August 2006, upon fulfillment of certain technical conditions. Furthermore, the shareholding of VNIL in Tiscali UK could be increased to up to 20% if certain performance targets are reached. Tax losses carried forward would also be contributed to Tiscali UK by VNIL at a discount and payable on a deferred basis and according to their expected utilisation in the future. Tiscali SpA has the right to acquire and VNIL to sell VNIL's stake in Tiscali UK starting from three years after closing or earlier upon certain trigger events.

In other words Tiscali UK is now a joint venture between Video Networks International Ltd (VNIL - 11-20%) and Tiscali SpA (80-89%). The assets of Video Networks Ltd are now transferred to Tiscali UK and Tiscali SpA can buy VNIL out in 3 years time.

Sounds like a takeover to me...

There's now a trailer on the TV guide about PIN checking which has Tiscali graphics and the voiceover says Tiscali TV.
