Empire Direct now have this set with cabinet for £1,999. The PX60 is £1,399 (strange as it's more expensive without cabinet!). Only real difference I can see is the sound. Getting very tempted now and grateful for any advice.

TIA.

Just about to order. Great price at Sound and Vision for the 600 (£1,723). Spoken to them and they are mega-helpful. See here:-

Need to see what sort of deal I can get on Sky HD now

PX600 has more inputs and better picture. It's the 2006 model which supersceded the PX60.

Mine arrives on Friday, also from ED. Can't wait!!

Just got off the phone with S&V. Very impressed with their knowledge and helpfulness. They did me a load of cables at cost (less than web site prices), so it's well worth ordering by phone. Delivery expected in about 5 days.......i'm gonna be one excited big kid.

For info, understand prices have indeed dropped due to new models coming out. At £1,723, it would have been a crime to say no

How much?? My 42" PX600CAB is £1299 from ED. £1700 seems a LOT of money - unless it's the 50" of course.

Edit: Oops - my bad, it was the 50" you were talking about all along, wasn't it? You may want to take a look at this thread first though... PX60's for £1279!!

I'm jealous I would have gone for the 50", but even finding space for the 42" (coming from a 36" CRT) will be tricky!

Hope you enjoy it!

I'm going from a 36" CRT too (not looking forward to moving it - weighs a ton!). Is yours in a tight space?......42" plasma shouldn't be too much bigger really. I'm lucky that mine's against a large wall space......still got to reorganise a few things though.

Quinny, That's the 60, not the 600. Easy mistake to make though.

Johnny, yes - same problem re the weight. It took two of us just to get it off the stand! God knows how we're going to get it to the car for the trip to the tip! I suppose we could cheat and get the council to collect it - if it's not too expensive!

Where it's going, it should be ok - but we'll have to get a door stop or the lounge door will whack it - and I won't be a happy bunny!!

Just had a phone call from the delivery driver. They are 30 mins away.......my heart rate has increased with the excitement!

Price of set has dropped £110 since I ordered it too, so Sound And Vision are refunding me the difference, which I think is great service.

That's me up tonight until the early hours!! Got HD coming Friday too, so i'm nearly sorted.

This is a bit strange as Panasonic did not upgrade the screen of visual electronics at all. Both use the G9 screen and same electronics. Most reviews say you cannot tell the difference between a 60 and a 600 picture wise.

The 600 has much better sound though. If I was going to have the sound always through an AV amp, I would save money and buy the PX60.

Of course, you might also prefer the looks of the 600 over the 60. That is purely cosmetic though.

Both sets appear to still be the best large screen flat TVs you can get though (although new Pioneer 42" plasma getting good reviews). The reviews say they are really good with SD content as well as HD and there are not many flat TVs that can boast that.

As always, you pays your money, you takes your choice. Don't think anyone would be too disappointed with either the 60 or the 600.

600 is fantastic........couldn't be happier with mine. Both SD and HD pictures look stunning. Only think I have noticed is that slightly under-par source material can look poor, but it goes without saying that anything not quite up to scratch will always be put to shame on a 50" screen!

hi i have had a 600 for about a month great picture!
only problem is the sound?, sometimes and only somtimes
when the sound is very deep, say in a action sequence
and the music hits that high deep notes the speakers vibrate and so does the cabinet.
i have tried turning the sound down and also the the bass
and treble but still this happens.
anyone else had this, or could offer some advise. i would be
gratful
thanks

D'oh - I meant sound (honest, gov!) - and the sound really is something special! I don't have mine hooked up to an amp or home cinema, but I'm more than happy with the sound straight from the TV.

Also, I don't have the vibration problem mentioned above. Have you tried contact Panasonic directly about this? They are pretty good in the Customer Services dept.
