David Ginola.

Article In The Daily News :- 7 March 2003

Is David Ginola just a big girl's blouse? According to insiders at the BBC, the silken-haired footballer has stormed out of Comic Relief's Celebrity Fame Academy after bosses failed to comply with his outrageous demands. Among Ginola's requirements were that his lawyers see all footage before it went on air. In addition, he stipulated that coverage could not be edited to make it seem as if he was flirting with Ulrika Jonsson. "He was worried that he would look silly," a Beeb source sighs. "He should just get a life. The show is about raising money for charity not making David Ginola look good." The stroppy star will be replaced by Smack The Pony funnygirl Doon Mackichan. She will join Ulrika, Casualty's Will Mellor and Kwame Kwei-Armah, Cold Feet actor John Thomson, comics Jo Brand and Ruby Wax, This Morning presenter Paul Ross and The Saturday Show's Fearne Cotton.

Said those exact words to a friend this morning Maybe it's just as well he's not in there - he would have been too conscious of the cameras.

Being a cynic, I'll go with the prima donna one. After all, why wasn't he named with all the rest? It could only because he was being 'difficult'.

Prat! Mr P was right. I've gone right off him now.

The BBC's 'official line' is that he had to withdraw at the last minute due to 'unforseen circumstances' - as reported on Radio 1 just now.

Malachi was also talking briefly over the phone in the same news item. IHO the students will find getting up in the morning and doing the fitness routine the hardest parts.

Having seen them introduce themselves briefly I reckon our Mr Mellor is going to be the trickiest in there...wasn't it good to hear the Fame Academy music again, I got quite excited

So did I. Isn't it ridiculous to get so over a TV programme? The trouble with Will is he looks too much like Jonny from BB3. The resemblance is quite scary, and a real turn off before he's opened his mouth.
I think Doon and Ruby could be quite a hoot together.

But surely you must remember, he's a footballer, not a movie star?
