I have just bought a charger for a phone I bought a while back but have not yet used. I have charged the phone and tried to make a phone call but nothing happens, i just get 2 beeps and the call is terminated.

There is no ringing tone when i try to make the call - is there anything I can do?

If you're using the SIM card that came with the phone, it's possible the SIM card has been cut-off by the network, as this is what happens when SIM cards are not activated for a set amount of time since manufacturing.

If you have another SIM card you can try, do that. If the phone is locked to a certain network it will need to be a SIM for that network.

Go to this site: http://www.recipero.com/recipero/products/checkmend/

Text the IMEI number of the phone and it will tell you if the phone has been registered stolen.

The fact that it didn't come with a charger is a fair indication that it's stolen...

Well obviously if you know the person you're buying from and you trust them to be telling the truth then it doesn't apply does it... but if you're buying from somewhere like eBay or someone you don't know, no charger generally = stolen phone.

Nope you cannot use it. There are ways to unblock stolen phones by changing their IMEI numbers but this depends on the mobile phone and is illegal in the UK but can be done in some countries.

Where did you buy it from anyway?

Best to hand it in to the police so the rightful owner can be informed and get their stolen property back.

Ihateyouguys, try another simcard in the phone, the number may have been disconned for non use but the phone may be ok. I think that the phone would not even attempt to call a number is it was imei barred.
