HC really screwed up this time

Well HC have made a total screw up.
on monday i had no internet, called hc to find they had suspended then terminated my account!!.
Why? cos some idiot at finance instead of pressing payment received hit something else and put my account on suspension, instead of notfiying saying payment was missing the new bill was sent out and it shoulded payment had been made yet they still disconnected me cos the marker for non payment was still on my account.
Many many calls later , demands to speak to managment etc and still no internet. even though my adsl is still active with markers on the line its gonna take 7 days to put back on. as for compensation.. oh we can offer u for loss of service for those days.. sorry not good enough, the cost of calls, the inconveinience, the time off work to sort it out. they are just one damn joke.. not happy

and it gets better.. spoke to several muppets before finally getting a manager, who assured me a new account would be put through and id have my connection back up on thursday/friday very latest.
then thursday morning they cancel the account again!
phoned up to give em hell when i got home from work to be told new account is reactivated, adsl is up and running BUT provisions have to assign ID to STB and run dummy test.. ok that should take all of 15-30 mins max..
Nope they cant do anything until march 6th... WTF is that all about.. so no internet cos of hcs total incompetence for at least another 2 weeks.
whats worse as well is i pay line rental to HC so dont have a BT line so cant even switch to another ISP.. damn im furious now

dunno about welcome, the fact ive been a HC customer for 3 years, and this is how they treat ya..and a paltry offer of one month free..HELLO , by time i get connected again i would have been without connection for 3 weeks so a mnth free is hardly compensation for loss of work, cost of calls and time chasing em up, inconvenience, overcharging for past 18 months, ths list goes on.. HC= Hopeless crap

If it's any consolation I had exactly the same problem last September - was down for two weeks.

Then last summer my line was nicked by Bulldog and I was connected to someone else's number, again it took two weeks to get fixed.

Then I've only just got my line back after two weeks of problems in Shepherd's Bush - so that's 6 weeks in the last year I've been down, hardly good is it.

Each time it's been problems with communications between HC and BT that have meant massive delays...

Just saw this thread and can report that this happened to me and it was Homechoice who made the mistake.

I was one of their original customers. Came home from USA in September 2005 and found some total idiot had closed my account by mistake. They cut off my phone service as well. As husband and I both suffer from chronic heart disease, it could have been dangerous if we needed to call the doctor.

It took them OVER A YEAR to get my DD reinstated and I spent hours on the phone and writing letters of complaint about this.

There are just some people who are totally incompetent working for HC and now Tiscali.

In the end one kind woman took on my case and pursued it until it was put right.

My experience with the 1st line of tech staff also gives me no confidence either. In the end I realised I knew more about Outlook Express than the numpty I was speaking to and in addition his very thick Scottish accent made him almost impossible to converse with.

I am waiting until April and then as I only use BB service and not the TV service, if things do not run smoothly I will transfer to Sky ( we have Sky premium package). I have stayed with HC purely out of loyalty and because the 8mb service is good and we never have any interruptions.

still waiting HC and BT to sort out my line problems this has been going on for six months now and the customer service from there tech dept has got so shitty and i have been with them for nearly six years

Well after spending hours on the phone talking to various managers i got em to push through within 24 hours at provisions. come friday the internet was supposed to be up and running. Turns out the idiots had left my old ID active so as soon as ip logged on it logged off again the 2 accounts cancelling eachother.
Got through to tier 2 on saturday afte rmore arguments and got a call back within an hour and lo and behold all fixed.
SO i finally have internet back on, and was promised a lousy months free for the incovenience.
well today i get a homechoice bill £27.99 .
this makes no sense, im supposed to be getting line rental and the £5 unimted calls with my 8 meg. this should be 27.99 for broadband, 5 for free calls and 10 for line rental total £42.99. Homechoice said my bill will be £32.99 a month come march 1st, a reduction of £10, ok fair enough, but no only have they sent me an incorrect bill, ( even though it should be one month free) they had the cheek to charge me £1 connection fee.
Ok so its only a pound but it was there cock up in the first place that caused me to be disconnected, plus finally my old account is still showing online and the new one isnt activated so i cant even access my account details.. More calls to homechoice coming up i think!
