Worst gigs....

Hmmmmm, I was dragged to a Westlife concert once. I was open to the idea- I don't mind some of their tracks (though it's not my normal type). They didn't do anything for me though I'm afraid.

Secondly... I would have to say the only other gig I've been dragged to! Last year I saw Christina Aguilera with my best mate. Her voice was outstanding but she just didn't seem to get the crowd going. Everyone just sat there- rarely sang along or even stood up. As far as I'm concerned it's her job to get them going!

Conclusion. Don't let myself get dragged to concerts.

Justin Timberlake was pure bilge. Proper poo.

I've seen The Glitz a fair few times and for all their posing and whatnot I've always enjoyed their gigs (although seeing them in 2004 on a rotating headliner tour when they played second to Hurricane Party- now Roadstar- they were completely blown off the stage)

Another rotating headliner tour meant I saw a truly awful band playing top of the bill- the excellent Tokyo Dragons and The Answer both played first and second and were fantastic, then out came The Sound Explosion. Considering for the previous 2 bands the place was packed, there was one row of people left 5 songs into their set.

worst gig ever for me - I was dragged by my cousin to see Rick Springfield in the early 80's. I even tried to scalp my ticket in the parking lot beforehand (much to my Aunt's chagrin)
Luckily for my daughter it meant I didn't make her go see McFly for a friend's birthday as I knew I could be done for child abuse (though I did try to tell her to be polite when she said no..... she wasn't .....she told her friend to save her money 'cause they're shite! lmao....she was 9 at the time)

I love Radiohead, but I missed out on Shepherd's Bush tickets when they were promoting Hail to the Thief. I bought tickets to an Earls Court gig from the fansite W.A.S.T.E - and they were the worst seats ever. We were right at the back, right at the top and may well have just been watching TV, they were that tiny. Everyone around was talking and getting up the whole time to get more beer, it was just so terrible. Never ever going to that venue again.

The worst band I have seen live was Taking Back Sunday, the only band I walked out on. It was overall a good gig though, as 4 of the other bands were brilliant, though Alexisonfire in the middle weren't so good.

Another bad show I have been to was Armor for Sleep. It wasn't terrible, just bad in comparison to others that I have been to.

God, I forgot about her. Saw her at Murrayfield. Dreadful. Ash were good though.

I saw Cher (why? I've can't remember now, must of seemed like a good idea at the time) in the 80s - that was pretty dire.

Snoop Dogg at Cardiff Arena, too awful for words. He kept us wating with no support act for at least an hour and a half then when it finally started we left halfway through.

Dire Straits at Wembley Arena probably ten years ago - I'm not a huge fan but their music was OK at the time but they had zero stage presence and we left before the big crush to get out at the end. I don't really like gigs in large venues anyway - too impersonal.

Not a whole gig, but the Noisettes were dreadful when they supported Muse last year.
Just a load of screeching really... and not the good kind!

I know what you mean about bad seating. I went to see Blur at Wembley Arena when they did their greatest hits tour (where they performed all their singles in chronological order) and we were stuck right at the back of the venue and off to one side. You had to either twist your body or crane your neck to see the stage, miles in the distance.

Thankfully the sound was good and the people around us weren't moving about or making too much noise.

I hate huge venues like that, especially if you're seated. Stadiums are OK if you can stand but it's no fun sitting down at a concert. I prefer smaller venues.

DAVID LEE ROTH

Awful voice, acted like a goofball, made disgusting comments to female fans... like "did i f*** you 20 years ago?"... and then when a girl wanted a cd signed he first stuck it down his pants and then danced around stage with it in his bands... disgusting... and he kept leaving the stage and dancing around like an idiot

he was playing at a casino.... to around 200 people...

Most of the bad gigs I've been to have involved John Martyn. His guitar effects gizmos were always breaking down, which involves hours of farting around to get them working again (and he's a great guitarist without the effects). But the last time, he was scheduled to play his classic album Solid Air in its entirety. Which he did, with the added bonus of a backing group who should have been imprisoned for crimes against jazz. There's nothing more likely to ruin a good night out than a fretless bass. Not even bagpipes.

Madonna at Earl's Court was pretty bad. No atmosphere and massively overpriced too.

I can't really remember seeing a BAD concert. I've seen an eclectic range of groups too (metallica, alice in chains, poison, prodigy, ozric tentacles, tigertailz (90's glam band - very cheesy now come to think of it), neil finn, joe satriani, westlife, shayne ward, will young. Although the concert was ok, my worst EXPERIENCE of a concert would be seeing Guns n roses at Maine Road many years ago. The concert was postponed for several days, and then they came on 3 hours late! people started to leave and get angry, and then when they did come on it seemed it was like the exact same concert as the televised paris gig that sky had broadcast a week earlier. Saying that, Faith no more was supporting and that redeemed the whole day!

Sting in Brighton. Him, a guitarist and some bloke playing an electronic keyboard. Think he was trying to strip down his performance - but there was just a basic lack of any charisma and might have well been watching three blokes in the bedroom practising. When I go to a live gig, I expect live music - not electronic drum beats. He made most of his back catalogue sound like some ghastly jazz club w**k. Self indulgent pile of poo.

This wasn't a gig in itself, but Athlete at Radio One's Big Weekend in Sunderland a couple of years ago.

Dreadfully dull... they actually got booed the day after!

bob dylan at stirling castle, he came on an hour late, it was pouring as it was an outside gig, it was cold, he sang songs that you couldn't hear the words to and he didn't acknowlege the audience once, didn't even say thank you or anything.

I was very disappointed.

Oh and what you could make out his voice was CRAP He struggles to make studio recordings sound half decent but live he is just terrible

Can't actually think of a bad gig on it's own but quite a few bands at festivals (well, t-in-the-park) have proved to be a let-down.

Wu-Tang-Clan ..... not sure which ones actually turned up (can't remember if ODB was dead by then) but they were awful.

The Streets ...... terrible.

Keane ..... quite possibly the most boring band I've even seen. I lasted a song and a half before I wandered off.

Ash ..... mind you, been to see them in their own right a couple of times as well (the wife likes them) and I always think they sound crap live. The guy just can't sing if you ask me.

The Hives ..... might actually have been good, but their sound just didn't carry in a big outdoor arena.

Robbie Williams .... when he did t-in-the-park years ago was abysmal. It was everyone elses fault except his of course .... which he made a point of telling the crowd .... constantly. Didn't exactly endear himself to the crowd shall we say. He just came over as a w@nker TBH.

Saw Van Morrison a few years ago and, although he was a great singer, he was obviously bored and disinterested. It was as though he was doing the audience a real favour by honouring us with his presence. It is the only gig I've ever walked out of before the end.

Saw Rush at the Hammersmith Odeon in late 70's. Only went 'cos I got free tickets from the support band's record company. Not my music at all. Bored senseless and left after 20 minutes.

Classix Nouveaux.

I'd only gone to see the support (Flesh 4 Lulu). Decided to give CN a chance, but the first note that Sal Solo hit did it for me and my mate. Took one look at each other, laughed our heads off, made for the door. Plus points : F4L were great and we got the bus back home in time for last orders!
