Will this lead to a Fame Academy 2?

I can see this show really taking off with people like Ruby and Jo... I just wonder if this does become very popular (more popular than the original), will it perhaps lead to another Fame Academy? Hopefully. A more well thought out one this time. And better songwriters.

I'll agree that Pam did not really have the insight to help the FA students much ... too focused on one particular type of music - hers

Yeah but also, people like Malachi, Katie, Camilla and others, weren't really very confident with their songwriting, even though Malachi and Camilla showed potential. As for the ones with confidence in their songwriting, like Ainslie, David and Marli... They were hardly anything jawdropping.

It would be nice to see people who really are great players as well as good singers if they ever did a second one.

It is worth pointing out that Big Bro 1 was also not as popular as the second one.....

Fame Academy may have a slow start but considering the final week (live show) had viewing figures of nearly 8million, and also the fact that in some venues the tour is sold out!!

I think the BBC would be mad not to do another one - but they have to keep all the things from the original - coz it just wouldn't be the same if it wasn't the same format......

I.e the website is already incorrect (lights out @ midnight - lights still werent out at 1:30am) and the lack of a timetable - nice to see some things never change

It'll be interesting to see what the viewing figures were 2nite, because Richard Park happened tomention in conversation that they received 200,000 calls in the first 2 mins.

As for the songwriting in the first FA, I think some of them were pretty good when you consider the constraints that were placed on the students. We'll just have to wait and see what their own material is like when their albums come out.

Personally, I can't wait to hear what Ains has to offer.

Well i agree i think that if this show is popular that it will hopefully come back as a regualr programme as i enjoyed fame academy and watched it every week and all the shows of it on which was BBC choice then

i would like to see Big brother , Fame academy and pop idol all come back as regular shows

I read somewhere this week that so far everyone involved with FA (Mercury, Endemol, BBC) have lost money on it. So I doubt if they will risk another.

but that was only due to their own inadequate promoting of the programme. celeb fa has been promoted well , hence how popular it will be, beeb should do another fa on the back of this . forget the sport one though...followers of fa watch it for the teachers we have come to know , as much as for the students.

The BBC said they are considering it, and apparently its another series will go ahead, especially if Celeb FA does well.

It was on www.fameacademy.cjb.net I think. They used to have a page about the second series but its gone now.

If they bring it back I just hope they treak the format a little. Success from a one week show crammed full of celebs isn't an indicator that the seconf FA will be any more successful than the first..............And it'll come down to money anyway.

Article In The Worcester Evening News

I posted this on the FA site & thought it may be of interest on here.
I think it could have been a 'dry run' for Celeb. FA, but it could just possibly be a trial for FA2.
What do you think?

Am I the only one who doesn't want there to be another FA. I think it will be very damaging to the chances of the first lot having careers.

That's very true. A second series won't do the first lot much good at all. Except David can do that neutral "I'm won't criticise anyone" judge thing.

I have heard loads of people say the BBC lost money on the first one.....

except......

how come the BBC is launching a £1m fumd to help aspiring artists "raised from the profits of the first fame academy"

will post link here when I find it again...

Here it is

Quote:
“Fame Academy launches talent fund
Winner David Sneddon will help choose the recipients

A £1m bursary to help budding pop stars has been set up using funds from Fame Academy phone votes and CD sales.
The BBC is donating its share of the profits from the 500,000 Fame Academy compilation CDs that have been sold so far, as well as CDs released by winner David Sneddon.

Sneddon, a former busker, gets a seat on the fund's board of trustees to help decide how the money is spent.

Some money will go to Children In Need, with the board to decide who deserves a share of the remaining cash.

The BBC has not finalised details of how the fund will work and who will be eligible to apply.

But it will be used to help "young people achieve excellence in the performing arts", a statement said. ”
