When you line hits the exchange it is split into two, one goes the the broadband service, the other goes to the voice telephone service. It\'s not unusual for one service to fail but not the other.
Your BTT will still work as that is using your broadband service, which hasn\'t failed. You will be entitled to compensation as long as you don\'t ask for calls to that number being routed to your mobile, other landline number or BTT number. |

If you take the divert to a mobile you still get the rental rebate, calls diverted for free plus £1 a day towards calls made via mobile instead of the landline. |

I'm guessing equipment failure or finger trouble at the exchange. Last edited by jackthom : 01-03-2007 at 21:11. |

sounds like you have one leg dis ,an external fault on the openreach network (between the exchange and youre socket) before you phone youre provider ref the fault unscrew the face plate on the master socket and test youre phone on the port behind the face plate if you do not get dial tone at this point book a service call via youre provider there should not be any charges raised as it is in the network.

A new cable from the telegraph pole to the house and now all is working fine. Last edited by jackthom : 06-03-2007 at 15:59. |
