on dancing with the stars usa????what does everyone think?

Already mentioned on the Dancing with the Stars thread. But I notice she's dropped the McCartney part of her name for the programme so is obviously trying to build up a following in the USA. And will probably get a sympathy vote for the first few weeks. Personally I think she's appalling but that's just my opinion.

From what I've read people aren't too pleased about her inclusion.
Maybe it will change once she starts

Suppose she has nothing too loose, I think she may come across as whinging though - I do bet she is very, very competitive though.

Who will hold her camcorder while she dances?

ABC wont have to worry about reserving seats for her friends and family eh?

Let's hope she doesn't say she's representing Britain!

Urm not to be harsh or anything but might she not find it a bit physically challenging?

Exactly. If it's too loose, it might drop off!

She would not have much of a leg to stand on!

Pictures of her in the Daily Mail today dancing with her partner and I wish I could high kick like her!It also says she more or less did the splits....I do not like her but I do feel she will do a lot of good as a role model to people who have recently lost limbs like her,to show them not to give up hope of living a 'normal' life.I have great admiration for her for taking part in this show.(Even if it is for her to make a name for herself in the US!).

I must say I watched the DWTS video completely expecting to totally dislike her, but I actually found her quite likeable and thought she was quite inspirational to give it a go. Still have mixed feelings about her though

I don't have a problem with her, I am probably decided to like her as she's being so slated by the press.

She used to have a house in Hampshire and I know she did a lot of work for people who had amputations all without publicity, one girl who lost her leg to a bomb in SA her parents wanted to say thanks as she spent hours chatting to the girl on a one to one basis to try and help, she can't be all bad.

Oh and Paul's daughter Stella annoys me so I like Heather to annoy her

OK a couple of thoughts ...

I think it is brilliant that she is doing this. She is showing that disability need not preclude anyone from enjoying dancing. More power to her on that score.

Not thrilled about some of the 'jokey' comments here.

Lastly I am surprised that she is part of the program, since part of her pleas in court concerning her husbands' alleged insensitivity about her disability, included statements on how much she could not accomplish.

Don't know anything about her court-case, other than it has been headline news.
But can I agree with you on some of the 'jokey' comments and also that she is to be commended for
a) hopefully showing that disability does not need to stop you trying anything - no matter how many people say its not possible
I think its also to be commented that she is trying to re-invent herself after the failure of her MacCartney relationship. Whatever you think of that, there are loads of women who feel completely defeated after a divorce and they may take some solace from her efforts.

The only bit I have heard was the bed pan to save getting up in the night but apart from that thought she had always been about proving how much she could do.

Sky news website is reporting she was on Larry King saying she had put money on the leg NOT coming off and did a couple of high kicks to prove how secure it was

I read something about her claiming that she was reduced to crawling around the house owing to her disability and that McCartneys' solicitors were presenting her participation in DWTS as a counter-claim.

But whatever the details, I think it does prove that she is one determined lady.

Oh definitely. Whatever I think of her in the context of her marriage, I do think she has oodles of drive and determination and since this is probably the most public of divorces, a lesser person would completely crack under the strain.

Yeah I completely respect her, she is not only taking on a very powerful set of lawyers but a fell set of Beatles fans and the Tabloid press!

Rather her than me!

I see that she is placing bets on her leg staying ON throughout the dancing. I guess this is in response to the leg falling off bets that have been placed.

One thing that does occur to me though, could this be illegal depending on where the bet is placed. I think it is illegal to bet on yourself for fear of influencing (rigging) the event. If nothing else if she uses super glue, she could be accused of match fixing

I'm watching Dancing With The Stars right now, and Heather just did some kind of backflip/backwalk over her partner. She's a good dancer, much better than I thought she would be with her disability. She got a 24/30, which I think is the second highest score of the night so far.

Hi banana split

Just read on another forum that Heather did well - and that was said by people who really had no expectations or even didn't want to like her.

I also heard that Apolo did a very good quickstep, I expect Len was surprised after his comments last week. Looking forward to the video being up on Raphael's blog soon.

I agree! The woman is a disgrace.
