Good news for HC , Cable has its only advantage removed. Also the prospect of an alternative buyer of Sky one exclusive programs might emerge.
Sky remove their basic channels from VM
How is this good news? Seems a bit petty, all it means is that an alternative to HC is now not such a good option. I don't see that this benefits HC customers in any way; it just means we now don't have such good alternatives.
Surely HC getting Skys channels would be good from a customer point of view, but I can't see how you can think VM customers getting a worse deal today than they did yesterday in anyway benefits us.

With Sky reportedly doubling the price of the channel, it just means that there is now no hope in hell of any other carrier securing it in the future (including HC).

Its good because there is more chance of VM putting their channels on HC than Sky ever would. Sky simply doesn't want any other company to have access to Sky One (they stated that this was their policy some time ago - make Sky One teh reason why customers buy their service). HC will NEVER get Sky One so if the existing/New programs are poached by VM they may end up on HC.

More than likely they will be back maybe after a couple of weeks or months sky wont want to risk loseing revenue.
Sky will need to get an additional 200K subscribers to switch to cover the loss. Thats quite possible to achieve, they may think its worthwhile.

This sounds a bit like Sky by Wire - maybe Sky would like to explain why they don't offer Sky One to HC/Tiscali users then...

Precisely - and I think that's what Sky are now suggesting for Virgin if they fail to reach a wholesale agreement.
So, again, if Sky are offering this service direct why do they not offer Sky One, Sky Three, Sky Sports News and the interactive services (and charging more than Satellite prices for the channels they do offer)?
