Well it looks like Panasonic's announced its new range...

There are full HD 42/50 inch PX70 and PX700's. Amazing!

Just interested to see when they are out and the prices. I would get the PX600 one now, but I just love that black surround on the PX700 panel

It'll be interesting to see how the new chip handles SD.

Also given the technical difficulties of the smaller pixels on the 42" it'll be very interesting to see how the picture compares to current displays, it may end up being a worse picture even on HD. The techo geeks will be happy though if it says full 1080p.

Does anyone know when they are available for sale?

Panasonic have them on their site now:

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/plasma-tv/th42px70/index.htm

I don't think they are Full HD though, which is disappointing.

Just goes to show you LCD can't compete with Plasma black levels.

I would have bought a Panny if it wasn't for the ugly silver.

Yeah the pedestrian styling did put us off a bit, but after all the great reviews we took the plunge and purchased one and to be honest the picture is so fantastic we don't really care any more.

They are not the mose aesthetically pleasing of tvs but we don't really care when sitting there watching a DVD on a Saturday night with a couple of drinks!

The X70 looks great in black.

When I decide to upgrade, I think it will be one of those for sure.

Excellent, it seems as though the price will be around £1000 - £1300, depending on what version you go for.

What's the difference between the PX and the PZ model, in terms of features and price?

Mine cost £1299 last Saturday with the curved stand and 3 years warranty. It is the 42 inch PX600 and Im very happy with it. Dont know about its technical capabilities too much to be honest though.

I got V+ fitted yesterday and put in the HDMI lead in today and tried to watch the rugby on HD but it didnt seem any different to be honest. Also we lost all the functions on the TV, eg split screen which was pretty annoying so we took the lead back out again.

The TV is nice though in my opinion, the picture is excellent. If i had of known about the new model being imminent i may have waited but you live and learn!

PZ is full 1080p panel, the PX will downscale a 1080p signal to its native resolution.
The pz is the top end model.
Looked stunning yesterday at the trade show! As did the whole range.

I heard the PZ model is not available in Europe for some time, if at all.

Is this true?

Will the PX700 have a better picture quality than the PX70? or what exactly is the difference between the 2?

I really don't know if most people could tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 42" set, so I'm not sure if the PZ model is worth it.

What do you think?

One of the differences between the PX70 and the PX700 is an SD card slot

I'm going for the PX700 over the PX70, and I might look at the PZ, but it will probably be out of my price range

They have pulled the overtime at work, so June would enable me to save the funds and I will no doubt shop round and try my luck for a discount

I checked it out and the difference between the PX70 and 700 is the 700 has better speakers, picture in picture and the SD card slot.

The PX70 is in stock here at the decent price:

SD card slot
More features, PIP

PZ70 - series
Standard set with 1080p native panel
- 42" 1920x1080
- 50" 1920x1080

No PZ70 series. The 1080p screen is only going to be on the top end 42PZ700 & 50PZ700.
Ther is also a PX7 series that is a stripped out version. Much more basic 8000:1 contrast instead of 10000:1 on th PX70/700 (5000:1 on PZ700) 2048 gradation steps instead of 3072. Also more basic pedestal and more plasticy feel to the build.

The PX70/700 range is not Full HD, which everyone thought they would be.

That is what is disappointing.

Even upping the resolution of the 37"/42" PX70/700 to 1366 x 768 would have been a big step forward.

While I would still choose a 1024 x 768 plasma over any current gen LCD (1080p or otherwise), a proper widescreen pixel resolution would have been a big step forward, not least because it would allow 1:1 mapping of a PC input. I wonder what the pricing will be on the Full HD 42PZ700?

I think they are around £2500

avforums.com are running a good thread on all the 2007 Panansonic models.

You should check it out.
