Wanna Bet??

What Bookmakers are offering odds on this? Can I get 10/1 Doon - I think she has a chance - a very good voice - she will be singing "Fever" tonight, Ulrika will be singing "You're So Vain".

It just struck me theywould be betting on this sort of thing when I read your comment, so I nipped ff to check and here we have the last odds:

Will Mellor 2.25

Kwame Kwei - Armah 2.25

Fearne Cotton 9.00

Paul Ross 13.00

Doon Mackichan 15.00

Ulrika Jonsson 17.00

John Thomson 17.00

Ruby Wax 26.00

Jo Brand 34.00

Wonder how much it will change now they've been on?

Eh??? Paul Ross is out!!! These odds are out of date!!! What idiot has put these odds up??

I actually normally use the word idiot to describe someone who doesn't actually read the post.

What bit of "here are the last odds and I wonder how they'll change to now they've been on" didn't you understand?

And for your information you can still bet at those odds until 17.30 today at William Hill.

Presumably they'll then be amended tomorrow,

Presumably you've never had a bet in your life. The odds displayed are meant to be the CURRENT odds otherwise they are as much use as a fart in a sewer. With a 12/1 shot no longer in the book I would presume the other contestants would have shortened. Thanks for the info, albeit totally useless.....

At least they've got the correct contestants!!!

I probably know more about betting than you know about making daft posts.

Those odds were on the William Hill site when I posted with "these odds are available until 17.30 08/03/03" at the top of the page so they were current and avaiable at that time.

The fact that they hadn't bothered to change it since day one is irrelevant. Hills are well known for that and a lot of people made a lot of money on Girls Aloud at XMAS when they didn't update it as regularly as other bookies before the song came out and the music savvy punters kept piling money on.

So if I'd had a bet at 12/1 on Ross I would have lost my money then?

Yes, although if you had have been stupid enough to do it and then went back later and told them you didn't realise he was actually out, they might have stopped laughing long enough to give it back to you for your entertainment value anyway.

It was the same with Celebrity Big Brother. They had Mark Owen at 11/4 third faourite on the night before it finished and as the figures were leaking out the next day, they couldn't keep changing the price fast enough and finally had him as 1/8 and lost £100,000.

The depths of stupidness know no bounds........... - it would have been called a VOID BET, you pratt!!!
grant1
08-03-2003
I know it's a void bet moron, but the point is they would have taken it and if you had n't gone back to them later , you would have lost your money.

And some people who are obvious morons like yourself mighthave been a tad too ashamed to actually go and reclaim the money, so technically would have lost it.
Judge Dread

You are the moron, Sir.

If you have a bet on the internet, you do not need to "ask" for your money back - it goes directly to your account.

If Ross is out of the event, he cannot possibly win. Therefore the set of odds you posted are wrong - they are out of date.

Your ignorance of these matters is astounding.

You are a complete cretin.

Have you never heard of making a point for comic effect and toddling off the bookies sounds much funnier than contacting your online bookmaker and reclaiming a void bet.

But all that sort of thing would obviously be way above your powers of comprehension.

What am I doing here arguing pedantic points with an imbecile?

Good question!

I'm out of here!
Judge Dread
08-03-2003
That's the WHOLE POINT, ****!!

You DO NOT NEED to contact your online bookmaker to reclaim a void bet, it goes straight back to your account.

I suggest you just go away please.

I think you 2 ought to read the terms and conditions of DS about not abusing fellow FM's. It's not relevant to CFA is it?

Tally, I have a lot of respect for you, and you will probably verifiy most of my posts have been sensible and relevant.

What happened here was I tried to help a forum member with the latest betting odds from the the leading UK bookmaker and got this garbage!

I will obviously never get involved with this moron again.

But what can you do when you post a helpful response and run into a complete brain dead moron, and thats's the kindest thing most people would say about him!
