Central News East has just announced that Crossroads will close its doors for the final time "later this year" because of poor ratings. I can't find any reference to this elsewhere as yet. Maybe it will be one of those stories that stays exclusive...

About time too!!
ITV shud have axed Crossroads first time round and put its faith in the far superior Night and Day!!

Again like when are they gonna get the message that this programme will never succeed.

Yeah but how many years ago was this?
Back in the days when almost everything on TV was dodgy is some way!

I also saw the announcent on Central News, and my BF said 'what? again?'

About time too, taking up too much time that could be used for something else. maybe even something NEW! Its about time a brand new soap was launched!

According to planet crossroads, they are going to finally stop filming in 3 weeks but will carry on for a few more months. How do you think it should end?

I hope that the evil guy- you know the one whos trying to destroy max- phones the hotel and tells people that there is an insect problem or asbestos or something and when the staff have gone having every bit of the hotel carried out into the 20 huge trucks he's got waiting outside. That or a huge cruise ship on the way to the sea could fall off a flatbed(rather a big one) and crush the hotel.

Hang on a sec, both my ideas involve trucks. Gotta take something to increase the power of my imagination.

Maybe they could be topical and have a terrorist blow up the hotel.

Poor old Crossroads. I don't know what I'll do without my fave soap. Still it's lasted longer than anyone thought it would.

IMO, the main reason it has been axed instead of rescheduled is because the new ITV director of programmes is trying to make his prescence felt.

No more soaps instead more longing running series for example 20 episodes of the braithwaites instead of the 6 we get.

Perhaps Harold (from Neighbours) will appear demanding that "Madge" return to him, only to find that it isn't Madge, just a women that looks and sounds like her.

He can't take the stress and torches the hotel..

End it with a slow fade to Benny in bed. He wakes up, shakes his head and says "oh my God, what a terrible dream"

Or even on that theme...Benny emerging from the shower..in just his woolly hat (shudders at strange visual place) and thinks its all a dream or that maybe he was kidnapped by aliens
