Two Major Ipod Problems...Please Help!

Problemo Uno:
My first problem is that when I connect my Ipod Nano to my laptop it recognises however never actually updates anything and always has the "Do Not Disconnect Sign" on it. When I plug it out all the songs are the same and no new ones are added.

Probleme Duo:
Secondly my Ipod Mini has completely stopped working. I've drained the battery, charged it via different ways and it still will not turn on! I doubt its still got its waranty. Is this the norm for an ipod mini to break a few (as in around two) years?

Please help.

Thankyou.

How have you set up your nano?
1 Automatically update all songs and playlists.
2 Automatically update selected playlists.
3 Manually update iPod nano

Depending on your set up, no update may be correct.

How did you drain the battery in your mini if you couldn't turn it on? Please explain.

Batteries have a finite number of cycles, so will need replacing at some point. Depending on usage, 2 years may be reasonable - how many power cycles do you think you did?

Try restarting the mini - have a look on the support section on the Appl website - a similar thing happened with my 4th Gen iPod and restarting it did the trick!

Power cycles is exhausting then recharging to capacity. On my nano, the battery level goes red when there is ~ 20% capacity, then after further use, you get a message to recharge it and the ipod won't work until you do.
btw you didn't answer the question on how your nano is setup.
