Cheapest Wi-Fi Internet Browser

Can anybody recommend a cheap portable device for browsing the internet off a wireless connection? It doesn't have to be powerful or do much more than browse the internet. I have seen PDAs for about £200 but surely there must be something considerably cheaper than that?

MDA/XDA/SPV? You could get one on a mobile contract and use last years phone as the phone...

Old (but running Windows 2000 or XP) laptop with WiFi card? (Mind you, buy the time you have replaced the battery a PDA would be cheaper anyway).

I reckon a cheap laptop would do. It'd have a better and bigger screen than a PDA.

The trouble is that they are heavy and have a short battery life so I would like to avoid getting a laptop if I can.

Are you planning on using it at Hotspots? If so be aware that you may not be able to enter you credit card details or login information rendering it useless. Additionally on the SPV's the battery life is pathetic - around 2 hours on the M600 - i.e. a laptop may offer longer and be more useful for that duration!
