Is there a mobile or PDA which doesn’t look like a phone?
I need to find a mobile phone that doesn’t look like a mobile phone.
My nasty employer has, for no good reason, banned even the possession of such items at work, so I need something that could be passed off as ‘not a phone’ if spotted. I don’t work for MI5 – just a bunch of control freaks. I’ve been wondering about some kind of PDA which discreetly incorporates a phone function? Or didn’t there used to be phones designed mainly for texting that again looked more like some kind of PDA? I’ll only use it to send/receive text messages, away from prying eyes, so don’t need voice calls, camera, colour display or any other fancy stuff. Just a discreet vibrate alert is on the shopping list. So do any bright sparks know of unusual looking phone options? |

If you only need something basic for testing there's the Motorola V100, it's quite old now but you could pick one up on eBay probably. It looks like a flip gaming/email sort of thing, but it does have an aerial on it.
Link You need a handsfree headset to use it for calls but as you're only going to be texting, I doubt that would be a problem for you. Last edited by Unwritten : 25-02-2007 at 12:25. |

Thanks for the suggestion. It is definitely an idea, but the aerial is a bit obvious. Is there anything similar without one?

Sorry, can't find anything on Google/eBay that matches a P3 Pen/Fashion phone? Would anything pen sized be useable for texting?

Sorry, just seen your link to pen phones. Interesting, but pretty large. Don't appear to have any apparent non-phone use?

I was after something more discreet. The large wrist watch with antenna would attract attention, whilst the words Nokia on the other would make it a bit obvious.
How hidden are the phone attributes of a PDA? Would I be looking at the higher cost end on the market to get any phone connection on a PDA? These at least have apparently non-phone uses. |

Do Palm Pilots or other PDAs require a Bluetooth Mobile Phone nearby? I'd want one which was all-in-one.

How about the Nokia E90 if you left it opened up? Would look like a mini laptop?
