Classic Doctor Who - updated music and effects
Mulett
27-02-2007
I just thought I'd post a few links to some work a few people are uploading to YouTube that may be of interest.

These are clips from classic Doctor Who that have been updated with new music, editing and special effects. They give an idea of how the 'old' series would have looked with modern day money and technology.

Planet of the Spiders
Here is Jon Pertwee's final scene with a bit of 2007 polish (I did this one).

The Chase
Here is one, posted by themindrobber, with terrific new effects, scenes and music.

Day of the Daleks
I love this one, posted by adamsbullock. Here's what he says: "Day of the Daleks has notoriously few Daleks - so, here is a go I had at adding some more daleks & explosions to the ending".

The Five Doctors
Posted by entiem, this makes the Eye of Orion look more like an alien world.

The Five Doctors #2
Another one by entiem, this adds in new special effects to the Cyberman sequence.

Do let me know if you find any more.

Here are a few more I found:

Spearhead from Space
Posted by themindrobber: "New CGI effects replace the old visuals as the Nestines arrive on Earth. Also the TARDIS model shot materialisation has been replaced with a proper shot which they failed to achieve on location."

The Krotons
Another one from themindrobber: "Original model shot of city replaced with CGI and new establishing shot of the Dynatrope. (It's annoying that the model work is inconsistent in the original as the Krotons' ship is somehow indoors during the final scenes were it melts!)."

Here's a new 'Next Time' trailer for my favourite classic story, Terror of the Zygons.

It is, just not comprehensively. The Restoration team assess each story on a case by case basis and create new FX if they feel it's appropriate/budget realistic. The DVDs always contain the original FX as well, though, and you can choose which version you want to watch.

Notable offical re-dos include:

>New CG Dalek ships over London in Dalek Invasion of Earth

>New CG Ark in Ark in Space

>Redone Daleks/weaponry in Revelation of the Daleks.

Mulet you and the other guys that make the videos on You tube need to get a job with the restoration team. Very good. Some of them are amazing.

I've just added this one. A bit out of sequence I know (as part one hasn't been completed or uploaded just yet).

I hope you enjoy my take on the end of the time war and the 8th/9th Doctor regeneration.

Nice work on the Spiders clip Mulett. The music really adds to the piece. It seems bigger somehow

This colourisation of Classic Who gives it a whole new lease of life IMO and that's coming from someone who loathed the whole concept of colourisation when it was first attempted back in the 80's on classic Hollywood films.
