[Plateau]

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this frustrating problem with their Toshiba RD-XV45KB? it has worked beautifully until recently when from nowhere, it suddenly wouldn't burn anything from the internal hard drive to a DVD disc. I haven't changed my media brand and I have subsequently tried different brands, different formats - all with the same outcome. It initially goes through the motions of preparing to burn, but the counter doesn't start, the unit sits doing nothing for a minute or two, then it just stops again.

is this a specific fault on my machine, or is there something I could do to get it functioning properly again?

It sounds like a faulty DVD drive, will it record directly on to it (not via HDD)?

Have you tried a cleaning disk?

It won't record direct to DVD either. I think you may well be right about it being faulty. I haven't tried a cleaning disk but will do.
