Is it just me or am I having bad luck with my Toppy?

Thank you for looking at this thread.

Twice now I have had the unit fail to boot succesfully and the message 'No Signal At Tuner 1' is displayed. If you enter the menu and search for chanels, no new items are found. The signal is present at the PVR as the output is passed on to my Pioneer Media Box and that has no trouble with the signal. When the unit is placed into stanby, the display shows '....' and the red standby LED fails to illuminate. If the standby button is pressed again it will enter the proper standby mode. I have on both occasions removed all TAPs before powering down.
If the unit is powered down (plug out) for 20 seconds and rebooted, there is no change, but leave the unit powered down for an hour and things are OK again.

Could there be a problem with the main board (replaced Jan 07 with a new item for Turbosat after the original was liquid damaged) or could there be a software issue? I have had a message for several months now saying that 'MyStuff' was out of date and would stop working on 01/03/07 even though I am running a version downloaded 26th December 2006.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Sorry do not know what is causing your other problems but sounds like you have a very out of date version of MyStuff.
Expiry dates ceased with v4.5 (released 14-7-06).
v4.5 has an update reminder (no expiry) but even that is not due to cut in until 01/06/07 so your version must be even older.
You should be able to see the version number at top of the MyStuff Menu;

One thought are you still using the supplied short loop through RF cable to tuner 2. Is known to be easily damaged/faulty. If you have a longer RF connector handy try that.

I think the MyStuff was 4.52? so yes, an old version - oops. I have now downloaded v5.21 and will try putting it on tomorrow, then I shall re-introduce the other TAPs (eit2mei, quick jump, TF5000Display etc) 1 at a time to see if that has anything to do with it.
Yes I am still using the short loop through cable, but would I still get a signal at my Media Box which is fed from the Toppy if the lead mid point was faulty?
Maybe I should register a fault back with TurboSat just so as they know there is an issue with the board they supplied.
Any further points would be appreciated, and thank you for your time in replying

Sorry; does look unlikely problem is the loop cable; I was not concentrating; like your 1st Toppy I had too much liquid probably

Just an update for anyone who is interested.

Since I last visited, I basically cleared all of the software on the Toppy and reset it back to factory defaults. I ran the unit in the basic mode for about 10 days without error. I then installed v5.21a of MyStuff, TF5000Display v1.40, Description Extender and QuickJump. All has been well now since.

The only conclusion I could come to is that the out of date version of 'MyStuff' was causing a software error preventing it from using the tuners hence the 'No Signal' message.

Can anyone advise how to get the Toppy to start up any faster as the wife dislikes the amount of time it takes to load all the software and then search for any CT's etc.

Ddisable the timeshift and leave it on all the time.
You can still pause programmes if someone phones eg

Do I take it therefore that disabling the time shift stops the HDD unless recording etc enabling the unit to be left on? How would I do the disabling?

Menu - System Setting - Time Shifting - disable

Yes -Silence too.
You can't rewind ona programme you're atching, but if you press Pause, the HD starts up and will delay up to 65mins, unless you are recording. (two progs?)
