Take it from someone who owns both now - The Sony is the one for you if it is your main TV.
If it is the main TV in living room - Sony for definate. So feature packed and exemplary picture. The Sony displays the standard definition TV far better than the Toshiba. If it is a secondary TV, the Toshiba is a good compromise. My Toshiba is in my dining room. Good TV at a good price. But as they say, you don`t get a rolls Royce when you pay for a mini. The Sony is a far superior TV all round. |

Sony are over-rated and way over-priced, you can't go far wrong with the WLT66.

The best idea would be if you see both LCD's in action. Anyway I saw Sony KDL-40W2000 and that tv kicks ass, a big plus gets this tv for 1080p, what I'm not sure about Toshiba.

I forget to write this:
You can take as well some your equipment like: DVD, V+ box with recorded HD materials and ask staff to connect those to TV. Remember also that you see often demo recorded specially for some TV, so you can be very surprised with seeing differences at home. If you're going to connect DVD via Component, ask staff to connect it via Component video as well, instead Scart, that very important. |
