I've been given a Sony KV-X2182U to look at without the instruction manual, and although it might seem like rather a simple problem, there doesn't seem to be any option to tune it manually - and the supposed on-screen menu doesn't seem to exist either - anybody able to tell me how the menu and/or the tuning function is accessed?

VERY rusty at this, so bear with me if I'm not 100% accurate. From memory, the remote for this TV is a double sided job - remove it from its holster, and towards the bottom of the more complex side, you will see the buttons for tuning, with symbols as follows (or similar)

Diamond with its left side open - open tuning mode (press this and the TV channel number in green should flash on the screen)

Sign that looks like the fast forward symbol >>¦ - starts scanning for TV channels, it will stop when it finds each one, press the channel postition number on your remote that corresponds to where you want to store the channel you can see (if you see ITV press 3)

Then to finally store the channel, it is a button with either a complete diamond symbol, or the diamond with its left side missing again.

Some Sony sets of this era could also be tuned from under the front flap on the TV, so you might find buttons similar to those mentioned under the flap.

If this is wrong, try and post a pic of the buttons on the remote and those under the front flap on the TV and it might just jog my memory.
