We bought our DVDR725H not the 7250H back in nov 04 via the interweb; 3 weeks ago all the front lights came on and would not start-up; I tried all the reset procedures listed in the book and nothing "its duff"...
Well like most people here you get to rely on the things you have so needed a replacement; I went out and bought a Humax 9200T....."what have i been missing"... that would another forum thread...
I phoned around to get prices for repair and all came in at around £50 just to look at it plus any parts estimated £100, so £50 - £150 depending if thay can fix it but no guarantees.
So contacted Philips to see if they had any local repair centres or could inform me as the a possible solution; I explained that is well out of any type of warranty; to say I was shocked by the response would be an understatement...
For a one off fee £141 we will collect, repair if we can, and return. (at this point its was worse) however she continued if we can't fix it we will give (strong words, I am paying £141 for it) you a replacement, if not the same a similar unit will sent.
I agreed to have the work done and 4 days later I package arrived and inclosed was a letter saying, Sorry we could not repair your unit, please except this unit as a replacement...
The replacement is a DVDR7260H which is more than fine by me; the only real differences excluding looks are it can read/record any type of DVD i.e. + or - and it has a DVB tuner so can record freeview.
Kind Regards
Well Chuffed
