Tiscali TV NO Way!
nexusexile

I have just contacted Tiscali CS to cancel my account!

All exisiting BB customers will not be allowed access to Tiscali TV. IT IS FOR NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY! As old customers are on wrong system, and will have to wait. NOT WITH THEIR HISTORY I AM NOT!

You can cancel, and then join up again. And that will take 30 days. 15 days to cancel the account, and 15 days for a engineer to come and see if you can get it at all.

So no BB for 15 days, and then you might not get Tiscali TV anyway. Of course is a new 12 month contract as well.

I off to Virgin ------WHOOOOOOOOOSH!

Now I can have light user BT line for £4 rental a month, and 2MB Broadband & Digital TV (SIZE L ) for £20 a month.
£24 Total
Better than old BT line £11 a month, and Tiscali TV ( Big Pack ) & BB £23.99.
Total £35

Tiscali you have dug your own grave. You will lose lots of current customers now.

If that's true, that's terrible. But what did they mean exactly by 'be allowed access to Tiscali TV'? Did they mean the new price plans, because the new channels seem to be there (except they have removed loads of content)?

It means if you have a Tiscali BB account, you can't or they are not going to allow you add Tiscali TV to your package.
1st March 2007 launch is for new customers only, even though the option is on the website.

Well that's for obvious reasons isn't it - ie that the HC network is still separate from Tiscali's normal BB network - so it's not particularly easy/cheap/etc to transfer people over to it. So while they've set up a provisioning system for new customers it doesn't extend to transferring from on LLU provider to another (Tiscali to HC), or even BT Wholesale (Tiscali customers) to HC.

You can't use the Light user scheme in conjunction with broadband - otherwise we'd all be doing it

Thats true.
The problem is that tiscali customers were promised this via email, letter and I was by customer services over a month ago.
It not the fact that I can't get it, it's the lying about it all to stop BB customers leaving by giving promises that are infact not true.
Just a little honesty.

Homechoice is Tiscali. You can't if you are already a tiscali bb customer. Unless you cancel, and sign up again.

You can use the light user scheme if you are using cable BB instead of ADSL!

Done that one! Guess what!
"We did that in anticipation that we would be able to provide it to our customers. But we will not be able to for a while yet!"

Maybe this is just a rant, after years of crap from Tiscali CS. They just gave me the excuse to go!

You can with Virgin media, broadband is not over the BT line, they use there cable network for broadband, so is compeatly seperate from your phoneline.

Infact BT dont even have anyway of knowing you have broadband via vigin media so it is possible and totally legit. They just dont allow broadband on the line provided by BT.

Thank God Tiscali are using a seperate network. I get a fast stable service and want to keep it that way. Also international calls are MUCH cheaper with HC.

Doesn't HC now include line rental?

Free line rental - not yet. I'd expect you'd have to be transferred to Tiscali LLU first (which isn't available at my exchange).

btw the website now says wireless installation is £49.99.

Unless you get Sky.

Joke. I hate Sky. However, there is lots of complaints about VM so its not perfect and it doesn't have Sky One either.

As I understand it, you can have Tiscali TV if you are on their current list of operating exchanges. At present some in London + Stevenage (*old HC). Tiscali plan to roll out to up to 50% of the country this year. If you are not on the TV enabled exchanges, then sorry, you won't get TV at present even if you are an existing BB customer - seems reasonable to me! With regards to line rental, the base pack at £14.99 does not include LR but the £19.99 pack does include LR, BB, TV + free weekend calls. Service is another issue, but you can't beat Tiscali prices with either Virgin or Sky. BTW, I have managed to get a list of exchanges/and or postcodes which are currently Tiscali TV enabled. I think I could get in trouble if I give away copies of the list, but if anyone wants to check out a particular phone no, just email me.
