Sony Ericsson K750i music help

Just bought a k750i, but i'm having a bit of trouble getting mp3 files to play on it.

I first took the Memory Stick out and put it in the PC, then transferred the songs directly from Windows Media to the Memory Stick. I put the stick back in the phone, but I cannot find a way of accessing the files that I have saved and the instruction booklet isn't helping very much.

I then tried by putting the memory stick back in the phone and plugging it in via the usb. However, when going on My Computer, although it says 'Removal Disk" (I assume that is refering to the phone, if I click on that it just says please insert disk.

Does anyone have any ideas? I don't really want to install the software that is provided if I can do it with programmes that I am familiar with instead.

Use bluetooth or the USB cable instead. I have tried 2 card readers on different PCs, with 2 MS Pro Duos, and adaptors, and can't get mine to be recognised in the PC.

If you plug the usb cable in, the MS will show as a removable drive in My Computer, from whence you can copy the files by drag and drop.

The SE software works well nonetheless.

Also to save music in the right place, make sure you select the removable drive, and then MSSEMC > Media Files > Audio

Thanks for the tips.

I've had a go with the USB option but it just doesn't seem to want to work. I have the MS in the phone and the usb attached to the computer. On My Computer it lists Removable Disk (J, which I assume is the phone, but if I try to paste files into it it just says that I need to insert a disk into drive (J and that doesn't really make sense to me. Apologies if i've missed the instructions from your post...i'm not very technological!

I thouht i'd had some success by putting the MS directly into the computer. I saved it into the MMSEMC Audio folder (which I hadn't realised you had to do) and then when having put it back into the phone it listed the songs but I could find no way of playing them. They are listed in the file manager (with blue diamond instead of a midi etc symbol as the pre-installed songs have...not sure if that makes a difference) but even when selecting 'all music' in the media player I cannot get them. The only option is to send them.

I appreciate your help - it must be frustrating to be dealing with a complete novice for this kind of stuff! I am probably missing an obvious solution.

What format are they? The k750 only takes Midi and MP3, if they're MP3 what bit rate?

As ForestChav says, the K750i only accepts MP3 music. If you're trying to put music on the phone purchased or taken from a CD using iTunes for example then that music will not work on the phone.

... without being transcoded to MP3.

I have the k750i though, great phone.

It is indeed. Although I have changed mine K750i into a w800i. Not much difference apart from the music player

I have the phone...

first install the disc to phone program from your cd on your computer. Then with your memory card in your phone, connect the phone with the usb cable to your computer!
WHen you do it, it should pick up and recognise your phone (if it doesnt, you need to install something else from the CD on your computer!)

When it recognises your phone, click and opent he disc to phone program. and from there you can copy your music files to the phone... if it isnt in the right format it should convert it automatically for you!
Hope that helps!

in a kind of related topic... does anyone know where I can buy a new headphone set for this phone??

I bought what I thought was it yesterday but it arrived today and it only has one head phone... not two!
I need the original one which works as a handsfree, radio antenna and music headphones!

eBay is your best bet. Cheapest place to get them.

I'd go for these ones http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-Ericsson-...QQcmdZViewItem
because they fit in the ear better and have better sound quality.

But if you want the Original K750i ones (same as above but without the in-ear feature) then get these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Portable-Heads...QQcmdZViewItem

Sweet. I want to do that but I don't want to turn my k750i into a doorstop!

You can get an adaptor that converts the minijack connector on the normal headphones onto the little connector on the phone.

Mine was a few quid, nothing more. I have a Bluetooth handsfree which is better, not that I answer the phone when driving nonetheless.

It also plays MP4 - which is what I use. Same quality but half the space.

Wow I might have to try that! I always want to get more music on my MS than I have space for!

That could be part of the problem. I've had a look and they were wma files....possibly why they would show up on the phone but wouldn't play?

As another poster suggested, i've now re-installed the software and thats allowing the phone to be recognised via usb on the Disc2Phone programme and on My Computer.

I'd still preferably like to just drag and drop files into it via Windoews Media (for some reason I can never find my music files other than in Windows Media itself). How can I go about converting the files into the correct type?

Thanks again for all the info.

Quick update...finally success!

I downloaded a programme to convert files from wma to mp3. After a lot of copying and pasting and returning back to the memory card being directly in the computer it has finally worked. I have a song playing as I type

Thanks again.
