Cancelling Vodafone
I called Vodafone to cancel my account and to request a PAC code so I could keep my old number. On the 22nd of February they phoned me to say my code had been posted and tried to get me to stay.
On the 2nd March I gave up waiting for my PAC, and informed my family and friends of my new number. However today, over a week after they said it was posted I got my PAC, which said; "Your new service provider will need to request the transfer from us before the PAC expires, otherwise your contract with us will continue." I phoned up and said I'd given up on recieving my PAC and was told not only that my contract was still active, but that I couldn't cancel it over the phone and would have to do it by post! And that I would have another 30 days from this date. But if I use the PAC number then my contract will cancel earlier. If you ask to cancel and get a PAC then can you only cancel from that date if you use that PAC? Why in hells bells did the guy I spoke to before say that my account was cancelled, when it clearly wasn't? More importantly, is it true you can't cancel an account over the phone, even with all the pin numbers and passwords? |

With most of the networks, you can "retro" port your number across to the new network.
If you do this, you will not have to give Vodafone the 30 days notice, and your number should go across in around 7 days from when you activate the porting process. just call your new network with your PAC code and they will start the process for you. This is available on Orange, 3, and Tmobile. I dont think you can do it on O2, but ring them and ask, the policy may have changed. |

I work for Vodafone and a PAC delivery by post is usually 3-5 working days (although you can call 191 at any time for updates - this way if the code has been generated on the system then customer services can give it to you directly over the telephone). Vodafone do monitor customer feedback on web forums, so if you'd like to get in touch with us by email then we can take a look into your account and hopefully get this all resolved for you as quickly and as conveniently as possible via email. If you'd like to drop us a line you can do so by going to www.vodafone.co.uk, selecting 'contact us' then 'email'. If you could provide the relevant security information, a brief description of your problem (feel free to include a link to this thread if you wish). Importantly, please also leave the text FIT135 at the start of your email (this makes sure you'll be routed directly through to the team who monitor internet feedback, as mentioned above). |

quickest way to cancel your vod contract is to port to your new network.
failing this get your hands on a PAYG sim then port to that, this will terminate your vod contract saving you a month's line rental. also you can set up your voice mail on the payg sim to say 'my number has changed....' you have to learn how to manage vod cs. |
