I called Vodafone to cancel my account and to request a PAC code so I could keep my old number. On the 22nd of February they phoned me to say my code had been posted and tried to get me to stay.
On the 2nd March I gave up waiting for my PAC, and informed my family and friends of my new number. However today, over a week after they said it was posted I got my PAC, which said;
"Your new service provider will need to request the transfer from us before the PAC expires, otherwise your contract with us will continue."
I phoned up and said I'd given up on recieving my PAC and was told not only that my contract was still active, but that I couldn't cancel it over the phone and would have to do it by post! And that I would have another 30 days from this date. But if I use the PAC number then my contract will cancel earlier.
If you ask to cancel and get a PAC then can you only cancel from that date if you use that PAC? Why in hells bells did the guy I spoke to before say that my account was cancelled, when it clearly wasn't? More importantly, is it true you can't cancel an account over the phone, even with all the pin numbers and passwords?
