PVR for Tiscali TV ?
Hello,
Can I use a PVR with Tiscali TV? If so, then which ones, where do they get program guide from, do I still need the Tiscali set-top-box, can it manage the channel changing, will I be able to record one channel while watching another, etc...... I've had Cable London / Telewest / Virgin for last 8 years (no PVR) but have just moved - there is a Virgin cable in the street but landlord not super-keen on having extra wiring through the flat, and Virgin can't connect me for a month anyway. Freeview has a limited set of channels here, and we're in dip between two hills (and no rooftop aerial) with very poor reception so unlikely to get them anyway. BT line is estimated at 6.5Mbit so Tiscali TV looks like a good way to go -what do you think? Cheers, Pete. |

I called Homechoice customer services a couple of weeks ago as I was thinking of getting the service. They informed me that there will be a PVR for Tiscali available before the Summer.

The only PVR compatible with HC/Tiscali is TiVo - you'll need to find one on eBay, aroud £300 - £400 with a lifetime subscription.
Other than that wait a while. The own brand PVR will be better as there'll be no in-between analogue-digital conversion going on. Their own PVR will be able to capture the network stream. |

Great thanks - just the info I needed - have now found the press release about the PVRs in July - this looks like the way to go!
