Okay, this might be impossible to describe through a forum but I was wondering if anyone could help with me identify this song! It's a classical piece played on the piano - and I think it's learnt by beginners, though I'm not sure. It sounds quite haunting and it has three notes played in succession four times and then the same three notes but a bit higher up the scale. I really don't know how else to describe it, I think it's quite a famous song and it also sounds sad.

If it ain't that it's probably one of Chopin's Études, which are practise pieces for pianists.........but I've never really listened to them

Edit: Doh! Already got it on CD within a collection of classical music.
