I was just watching a video of "I touch myself" by one hit wonder The Divinyls.

Much better sounding than the original by Blondie, but with a less attractive vocalist.

Are there any other 'covers' which are better than the original?

The obvious answer to this one is Hendrix's cover of All Along The Watchtowers.

That, and (much as I adore NIN) Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt.

Elvis Presley's cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water is just sheer class. Definitely how it should have originally sounded and a much better version than Simon&Garfunkel

Love is all around. Wet Wet Wet's cover version is much better than the Troggs.

Whitney Houston's 'I will always love you' is more popular than Dolly Partons.
It's not better though.

Hendrix's "All Along The Watchtower" is certainly one.
Though I didn't hear the Dylan version until later.

<think I really ought to have posted this in the music section>

Not a cats chance in hell is better than Air Supply's version. So have you actually heard the original or are you just saying ***tlife because you're a fan

I dont think that was a Blondie original, and I've never seen a recording by them of it. Where did you get that from?

Gotta go with Hendrix too...he pretty much owned everything he played, whether he wrote it or not.

The Divinyls might have been a one hit wonder here my friend but in their home country they weren't. The bloody music world doesn't revolve around Great Britain you know.

That'll be Roy 'older guy' Orbison then.

Cyndi Lauper's version is miles better than both of them anyway, and is technically the original as it was released before Orbison's version (but recorded after it, so might not be).

The Celine Dion version is horrible!
