Arrgh - broken remote

I've had my Dual PVR80 for a couple of months now and not had any major problems with it but this weekend the remote stopped working. I've replaced the batteries, reset the PVR a couple of times, etc. but the remote seems to be dead (PVR is still useable but I'm getting back ache from pressing the buttons on the front panel ).

The remote seems to be a completely sealed unit, I couldn't see a way to open it up. I know it's a bit of a long shot but does anyone know if it's possible to buy replacement remotes?

I've got a Tevion "universal" remote from Aldi but this doesn't seem to have the right magic codes for the Dual/Digihome/whatever.

It could equally be the remote's receiver inside the PVR80. I'd take them both back under guarantee.

John.

The basic functions on the PVR use the same remote codes as the Vestel freeview boxes (Bush, Matsui, Wharfedale, Goodmans, etc.), I would think that there's a good chance most modern universal remotes will be programmed to work these freeview boxes.

As you haven't had any joy with the universal remote, its just as likely that the box has failed, as John says.

I've an old Goodmans GBD2 remote that I tried last night and that works the Digihome. The play/record/pause buttons are missing thoiugh.

I'm going to have another go at my universal remote tonight, I bought it a couple of years ago so I might need to invest in a more recent model anyway.

I went to our local Asda last night but they didn't have any Dual PVRs left (only the Goodmans version at £100) so I'm a bit reluctant to take mine back as I'm guessing they will just offer me a refund.

Asda should be able to get you a replacement, because it's still available in some of their superstores, I'm told. Kick up a fuss if they quibble!

OR... tell them the Goodmans is virtually identical and say they should offer you that without requiring extra dosh.
