Tip regarding extracted recordings/playback
PugRallye

Just thought I'd post this as it may prove handy to people who extract recordings from their DHD-4000s...

If you extract the recordings using the Fusion Viewer software then you get a single .PES file. Rename this to a .TS file and then you can play them back in Windows Media player using the codec here:

http://www.elecard.com/ftp/pub/mpeg/.../EMpgDec20.zip

Simply d/l the zip file, extract it and install the codec and presto - no more demuxing and converting files into DVD spec (IFO etc).

Just extract the .PES, rename to .TS and play in Windows Media player...

Better still, VLC will play the file without renaming or installing codecs http://www.videolan.org

Yeah, but I have "issues" with VLAN - it doesn't seem too stable and I'm not sure if it can do full screen?

VLC works well for me and can do full screen. The default skin might not be as pretty as windows media player, but it certainly makes up for it with its ability to play many more types of files than wmp without installing extra codecs (they are already built in). You can also download skins for VLC if you want to make it look more appealing, some even mimic the wmp interfaces and other popular players like WinAmp.

I must have been using an old version then - the programmes seemed to break up quite badly in VLC (jaggies and delays etc) - and now the sound seems to have stopped working in Media Player - I'll get the latest version of VLC and use that from now on.

Tip cancelled!
