SCART to RF adaptors
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy an adaptor to allow a DVD player (with SCART output) to be connected to a TV without a SCART inout (RF input)?

It is. They are called modulators. They take a composite or, on the slightly better versions, S-VHS signal, and put it onto an RF carrier so it can be tuned in on your TV. You should be able to get them from the slightly more specialist electronic stores (Maplin, etc.) Apart from the very expensive broadcast versions, they don't have built in NICAM stereo generators, so you'll only get mono sound, and you will sacrifice some of the picture quality.
See here or here. Last edited by GaryB : 13-03-2003 at 20:37. |

of course you can get around the mono sound by simply connecting the phono outputs on the DVD to a hifi or amplifier, even a very basic system would be better than mono sound through TV speakers
