Hey all. I've recently started thinking of setting up a home cinema system for in my house.

I have Sky HD and an XBOX 360 which I use to play HD games and stream HD material to my 40" HD Sony Bravia. I also have a 5.1 surround sound Sony system.

As much as I love my TV and the picture I get from both Sky HD and the XBOX 360 I was thinking of investing in an HD-Projector for watching films and playing games... the trouble is that I have no idea what connections are required to get both Sky HD and the XBOX 360 through the projector. Also, I don't know how I would get any sound - would I need a surround sound system with an optical input?

Basically, the point of this post is to ask everyone what would be a good, not too expensive (i.e. not 5 grand) HD projector to go for which would deliver impressive results when viewing films or playing games.

Thanks

Gillian, I just took the plunge into Sky HD and, after a lot of forum browsing and review reading, I got myself a futuristic looking Infocus IN76 projector. This handles just about any input you like (component, rgb, HDMI, DVI, etc) and will auto-configure for resolution and format (4:3, 16:9, etc). It can be used on a shelf or stand or ceiling mounted.

The picture is wonderful - at low resolution I can directly compare it to my Loewe CRT TV, which has one of the best CRT TV pictures around, and they match very well (apart from size - I get a 72" actual picture size from the projector). Viewing HD sources is something else again...
All aspects of the image can be adjusted if necessary.

The price - under £1200 for the projector, but with AVWow offering free 10m HDMI cable and discounted screen and ceiling mount, the all-in cost is under £1400. See AVWow.
