How important is Contrast Ratio in HDTV's?
A friend of mine is looking to buy a budget HDTV and am after some advice regarding what features a good HDTV needs.
I have been told that Contrast Ratio is the most important, the bigger the better. Is this true? What other factors should I take into account? |

Companies may measure there contrast ratios in different ways, so its hard to know which is true or higher than another.
A lower priced TV may be advertised with a higher contrast ratio than that of a more expensive one, but that doesn't mean the TV has a better picture quality. I personally wouldn't put too much into contrast ratios. The only & best way to view a HDTV is in a specialist shop, one that will allow you to adjust the contrast, brightness & colour to what you like then compare that with another set if your undecided between a few. |

Other things to consider are the display's resolution, its available inputs, the picture formats it can handle and its standard definition quality. Also make sure you can get high-definition content you want to watch! |
