Text Scam?
happyamk

Just received 8 texts all at once saying exactly the same;

Non Subscription - Thank you for your order. Cost 150 pence. Wallpapers, videos and games to choose from. Provided by mobilepartner.co.uk. Help: 0871 872 5370 from : 80122

Any ideas if this is some sort of scam?

Text STOP to that number NOW!!!

Each text may be costing you £1.50. If it comes through again text STOP ALL instead.

That should stop it.

Surely the OP would have said if they had been charged.
The obvious thing to do would be to phone your operator, give them the shortcode, they will tell you who sent it and give you a contact number.
Phone the number and ask them to stop sending texts.
You could call the number in the text.

Thanks. I did try the number on the text but it was continually engaged. I did wonder if it was one of those numbers that charge you a fortune for calling.

Like I said Text STOP looks like you have already been charged £1.50/ text sent to you 8x 1.50 = £12.00

Googled this...

"The hottest hits from the UK Charts on your mobile!

The Costs are £1.50 per SMS.
Max. 3 sms per real tone.
Max 3 real tones per week.
To stop this subscription service? Text STOP to 80122"

Blazer, Thank you.

I called my provider who confirmed I had been charged £1.50 x 8 and they have barred the number. I then called Zamano who have said they will refund the £12 - without any hassle!!!! What a rip off.

Thanks again.

No problem, just wanted to make sure you didn't get any more through.
