Upgrading an HC package to a Tiscali Package
Right now I'm on Homechoice Line with Freetime Calls, 2MB Base Pack, now costing £24.99/month. I would like to upgrade to the new Tiscali Package: Free Weekend Calls, up to 8 MB Base Pack, £19.99/month as this seems better value (I don't make a lot of evening/international calls).
I have put my number into the Tiscali website checker but no TV packages are offered (only phone/BB ones). Obviously I already have Homechoice so can I just phone their customer services and upgrade to the Tiscali package or is it more complicated than that? I'm still in a 12-month contract with HC but as they are the same company as Tiscali I'm guessing this doesn't matter. Also would it be better to switch to Tiscali after they launch the PVR? This is in case they do something really bizarre and reward Homechoice customers for their loyalty by giving it to us as a free upgrade (I wish!). Any help appreciated. |

yes i can help!
phone up homechoice\tiscali on the 0845 678 33 33 number and ask them. remember your a homechoice customer now a homechoice/tiscali customer and not a new (tiscali) customer in other words were being treated different to the basic tiscali customer. so as i said above the easy way to put it is a homechoice/tiscali customer (customers before the 1st of march) or a tiscali customer (new customers from the 1st of march) and were are getting the same price's as the tiscali site but with better deals (at the moment) tw |

Thanks for you help, but I think we are getting worse deals than Tiscali customers (my cost has been reduced to £24.99 for 2MB base pack, freetime calls and line rental, whereas the new tiscali package offfers 8MB base pack, free weekend calls, line rental and free security centre for £19.99 - this is much better value). I'm going to ring customer services anyway but wanted to sound out DS first as you guys often know more than our friends at HC/Tiscali.

then how come the the call charges are different (cheaper on the hc/tiscali platform) than just tiscali, and on tiscali you have a fup on the broadband and not on hc/tiscali! plus how come old homechoice customers NOW Homechoice/Tiscali just have a bad revamp of the old homechoice web page and not just use the tiscali web site? pluse there are two different phone numbers two call old homechoice number and the tiscali number |

Re Upgrading
I am a long time customer of Homechoice and have the 8mb connection with anytime phone calls. That service cost me £7.00 per month.
I do not use the TV service as we have Sky( with sports)and Sky plus. I could have moved to Sky, but I hate change and I did get 3 months free which has just ended. The last amount taken from my DD was just over £20, which does not really make any sense to me. So I am unsure what to do. I have not received any communication from Tiscali so far and ideally, I would stay if I can keep my anytime phone service plus the 8 mb internet service at a reasonable rate. We have had two relatively short interruptions to the service in the last week. This is unusual for the Staples Corner server. I do hope it is not a sign of the future. I have not rung Tiscali. I did ring about two weeks ago about my OE email account and spoke to a young man in Glasgow who seemed to know less than I did. Any advice on packages would be appreciated. |

When I plug in my phone number to the tiscali checker, I only get the tiscali phone or broadband bundles available to me. Yet I have homechoice and have had since 2000! So why am I being blocked from the triple pay packages???? I am on on the Fulham exchange.
When I put my mates number in who is on the Euston exchange, I get the phone, internet and TV bundle whats the deal!!!! |

It certainly explains why there hasn't been a high-profile launch - if they're not doing new sign-ups just yet at the majority of exchanges there isn't a lot of point...
I did wonder why there hadnt been any advertising - even HC managed regular adverts in the paper, tube & train stations etc. |

Tiscali CS are clueless LOL Cheers, ssjgb first HC disconnect me cos they screwed up over the bill even though it had been paid on the day it arrived some idiot had clicked suspend instead of payment received. Spent 2 weeks speaking to various incompetent morons trying to get account back up, finally get a manager who sorts it, sort of. they give me a new account but that gets canceled. reactivate account and further wait for provisons to process which they tell me is gonna take 3 weeks to basically hit a button on keyboard and test line which actually takes about 1 minute to do. more calls more idiots another manager, finally get account back up. check with CS as to what package im on, i had base pack with 8 meg , unlimited calls and line rental. yes thats what you have on new account they say. ok so roll forward a week after more calls saying no i dont want the tv i just want they 8 meg and unlimited calls offered at 17.99. more idiot CS no we dont do that package and no you cant downgrade your contract says so. Hah what contract i havent signed one, its a new account and i never agreed on the package , also YOU do do 8 meg and calls. Oh but im a HC customer and thats for Tiscali customers. ok so why does the HC website link to tiscali and those packages. The whole packages , pericing and layout is a mess. Finally get through to a manager after another week of endless hour+ long calls ( of which i wont be paying for ) . The final scenario. 8 meg and unlimited calls for 17.99 as listed on Tiscali website which you are directed to from HC when you click packages is NOT for HC customers and is only availble for tiscali customers. HC accounts do NOT work on tiscali accounts page, you can only access webmail but if you put in HC email address in the login to accounts on Tiscali it wont work. I checked again as to what package and pricing. turns out i wasnt put back on line rental!!!! so who the hell is supplying my line??? Manage gets that dealt with, wipes old bill on old account , sorts out new bill HC sent me which included connection fee even though it was there screw up that got me disconned. So now as it stands. HC customers cannot getbroadband and phone only, Tiscali customers cant get home choice, HC customers cant get Tiscali TV, call charges between HC and Tiscali are different, Pricing is all over the place and nowhere can you find what the true costs are. My final package ends up as this 8 meg with base pack 17.99 a month, line rental 10 a month, unilimted calls 5 a month, total 32.99, used to be 42.99 so thats something. got my bill settled at £10 for this month cos of the hassles plus 2 months free. Hopefully by then HC and Tiscali will have got there sorry arse sorted we will see one package for all.... But dont hold ya breath cos most of the CS people i spoke to at both HC and Tiscali dont have any clue about half of whats available, who can get what and at what cost |

also the fact that hc have still failed to change my account and all i can acces through the HC website is my old account. as far as im concerned this whole merger process has been screwed up from start to, well i say finish but its not. Homechoice is now rebranded as Tiscali yet you still have 2 diff call centres, 2 lots of accounts 2 lots of packages yet we as current HC customers are as far as tiscali concerned non existent. If they are gonna do a merger it should be done with one package for all, one account system for all and one set of prices for all, either that or for now keep the HC website seperate and NOT link it to a tiscali site thats about as useful to HC customers as a paper umbrella in a storm |
