I'm looking to buy a new TV for my bedroom.

I sit on my bed to watch TV and the distance from it to my TV is about 7 and a half feet.

I've currently got a 14" CRT but would like a bigger screen.

Would an LCD monitor be OK or would it be blocky because I'm sitting quite close?

I like the look of this 20" CRT monitor from Tesco.

We have a 17" lcd which replaced our old 14" CRT , and from a viewing distance of 7 feet the picture is absolutely fine.

Your viewing distance is actually quite far away TBH so if you wanted to splash the cash on a decent brand name lcd you could go for a 19 or 20" and you would still get a good quality image.

Would a 15" LCD be OK or would it be a bit on the small side?

That would fill a quarter of the length of my bedroom wall!

What are widescreen TV's like? Are they OK for viewing images /text or does the picture look wierd when you've only used a 14 or 15" before?

they are fantastic however if you get anything smaller in widescreen you will be struggling to watch.

if you get 28" you can always take it with you

lcd not as good as crt whatever you choose

Absolutely right, however a 28" screen is rather a large leap up from a standard 14" CRT, especially in a bedroom! If you already have a large screen tv in another room and just require this as a second set for nodding off to then I would just go for a mid-size tv of about 17"-19".

As has been said before, the images on LCDs are not as good as CRTs, especially when viewing scrolling text or fast moving images (ie stuff like Sky Sports News) but from a reasonable viewing distance they are adequate enough.

Obviously LCDs have the advantage of being much slimmer and look better on your wall or furniture too so it is really just a case of weighing up the pros and cons. We have our tv on a wall bracket on a kind of swinging arm which can be moved out and around to suit our viewing position. When it is not being watched it just folds flat back to the wall..no more banged heads when we walk past!

It really depends on how fussy you are about quality and how much you are prepared to spend, so good luck!

Unless its for HD viewing stick with CRT.

My son has a 17" LCD and the grotty picture expected from SD on an LCD is clear.

And DSAT and DTT dont help with their cut price low bitrate channels.

I would go for a demo in a shop and ask them to put Sky on both(or dvd).
With the identical images side by side there's no doubt you'll go for CRT

I'm looking for a CRT monitor between 14" (bit too small) and 21" (miles too big) for my bedroom.

What sizes can you get above 14" and under 21"?

If you get a CRT make sure it's a pure flat model. Non-flat CRTs tubes tend to have a very soft picture.

I'm thinking of buying this....

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?s...&view=detailed

Oh no!. The price was £157 yesterday, now its £177!. I knew I shouldn't of hesitated and just gone ahead and bought it. Tesco's are also selling it for £179. £157 was the cheapest I could find it, but not now!.

I recently bought a 15" Mogen LCD from Sainsburys which has been ideal for my bedroom. Great picture!

i'd go with crt. why don't you look on ebay for a sony 21" flatscreen? they go for next to nothing, and will be FAR better than any lcd picture.
