Best celebrity reality TV show yet?

What does everyone think, has 'Comic Relief Does Fame Academy' knocked spots off of 'Celebrity Big Brother 1 & 2' and 'I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here'?

Discuss.....

Definitely, in the same was FA1 knocked spots off all the other "civilian" reality TV shows. I won't be watching BB4 just because I've been spoiled by FA.

Got to disagree Plant - FA is alright but nowhere near as good a Big Bro.....I'm a Celeb Get Me etc was better than FA2 which in turn was better than CBB2.

yeh i think that CFA was the best reality tv show thats been around lately. Last years big bro wasnt very good imo and i got bored with it. Only prob with CFA was that those peeps who dont havs live streaming/bbc3 didnt get to see what happened in the day. I reckon that they should have had a 1/2 hr programme each night showing what they had been up to, and so we could see what their real personalities were like etc 0 that could have influenced the pretty boy vote that Will probably got from all the little girls

Big Bro was rubbish this year, the main one was full of hoolies and the Celeb one was full of drips

IACGMOOF was good til Rhona got chubbed,CFA was very funny mainly cos Ruby stayed in,if Jo and John had stayed it would have been even better

The BBC just don't seem to get it do they. I mean the way they suddenly added extra shows this week, because obviously they didn't have all that much faith in it when they originally scheduled it. Endemol obviously know what they're doing after all the experience they've had with Big Brother, so I can't understand why BBC bosses don't allow them to make a bigger thing of the 'reality' side of it all. Maybe they think putting it just on BBCi will push that service, but most people aren't adventurous enough to take advantage of digital extras.

It's probably down to the fact I enjoyed FA so much but for me it was far far better than all the others. Which is a surprise to me because looking at the list of celebrities before it started, i had no time at all for Jo, Ruby, Ulrika, Paul or Will, yet, with the exception of Paul Ross, the others have all grown on me.

I just felt there was a much better camaraderie within the group, and there was a greater degree of tension about who stayed and who went.

I think Ruby summed it up best on BBC3 last night when asked if she would do any other celeb reality shows by saying she wouldn't do Big Brother as it was "too wanky".

I didn't watch Celeb Big Bro last year - coz FA1 was on - and unlike tally - we dont all have Sky AND Freeview and hundreds upon thousands of Tapes and 4 VCR's to record every waking moment

I hear Celeb BB wasn't that good tho - in fact most people I know said it was "a flop" - probably coz they didn't have a Vanessa Feltz to go completely looney in it!

Anyways it was bad scheduling - there was no way I was going to stop watching FA which i'd been hooked on since the end of the second week (when i discovered it) and miss whatever was happening with Ainslie

As for Celeb FA - omg - I have probably not laughed so much since.......... probably Fame Academy 1 - especially when Ruby and Will started holding conversations with the cameras - oh and the tannoy system

Feeling sorry for Kev tho......... You could tell he was so glad to be back - Come on BBC Make Kev happy comission FA2 - Wonder what he will do now.....

i didnt like IAC... cos it looked all to staged between Tara and everyone and i found them all pretty boring really and i didnt realy think they were that stranded in the jungle since the place the links were filmed was a 5minute walk away.

celeb BB1 - was good

celeb BB2 - didnt watch. FA was on and couldnt have missed Ainslie since he is god.

CFA was just pure entertainment though! the comedy entertainment, the live feed, the fact that the 2 best singers were in there all the time so ppl couldnt just say oh none of them can sing theres no point. i loved it!

and on BBC3 last night what was going on between Ruby and Alfie from eastenders? were they having a fight??

Yes, CFA has been the most entertaining stream to watch, never a dull moment. During BB they didn't have enough to do.

However, the CFA final was an anti-climax. If they weren't going to have voting on the last night they should have just made Thursday the final instead. As it was the final didn't seem part of the academy experience for me. It felt like the last 2 already knew the result and were just going through the paces.

However they did it, I don't think anything can compare to the drama of a BB final night, when the last 3 contestants, emerge from their isolation, into the centre of a hysterical audience.

I think all the reality shows mentioned have there own indivdual merits, but in my opinion CRDFA was way ahead of CBB2.

I also think that the FA production team could learn a lot from CRDFA as to the pace and staging of the series for FA2.

I love BB, but FA and BB are really two different formats, linked by the live streaming... Going on BB3 for the most part only they had to do the live together in a rich & poor side and most of the tasks from BB!&2 were dropped to be replaced by one weekly live task on a Saturday night.

In FA they had to really work both in the celeb and original format.

As for CRDFA i wish they could of really kept the isolation to the end and have the final from the academy with a apperance later live in the comic relief studio... But overall i really enjoyed it and i'm looking forward to hopefully a second series of FA2.

I wonder if it will be in September? as Pop Idol 2 is meant to be scheduled for September isn't it?

Anyway see you all again for BB4 in the Summer and hopefully FA2 in the autumn

Fame Academy 2 acording to the papers and the broad sheets, is going to be shown in 2004 sometime. The rason why it might be shown next year is because it wont clash with Pop idol 2 this year. Pop idol 2 has been hugely anticipated and any programme that thinks it can go up against that are mad.

So its a save bet saying that FA2 will be shown sometime next year.

You are right in your thinking. It will most likely start in Feb next year.
I worked on both FA1 & CFA.Friday was one of the best working days i have ever had. I was envoled in giving each camera a personality. It was great fun talking with Ruby and her strange and twisted mind. Wills jokes were crap but they had to be clean. Drooping the camera down as he told his long joke had everyone in fits. Had we done this from the start I dont think it would have been funny but with just the two of them left it made good tv.

CFA has been the best so far but I think Reborn USA could be really good too. The potential for bitchiness and backstabbing is good and so far has made enthralling viewing, pity Dollar have gone as their big egos combined with their paranoia could have caused some major conflict.

I thought the beeb had washed their hands of it? I would SO love to hear that its been recomissioned. Please spill the beans.

Because of the high viewing figures it means that they are looking hard at an new series. A certain dance instructor has mentioned october but I heard that feb was the most likely due to PI2. It will certainly be in a different location for a number of reason. Sting was not too pleased with the noise we generated from the site day and night. If i hear of any news I will let you know. My friends start on Big B in two weeks and another is working on the salon.

Ah, now there's some news to lift the monday blues. Not gonna get too excited just yet, until we get something definite, but I'm getting more quietly confident every day. I think CFA has been absolutely crucial in the BBC's thinking - if that's true, then referring back to the thread title, CFA's definitely the best celeb RTV show yet. Fingers crossed (as ever )

You realise many people will ask you about the interactive coverage etc etc , because its really hard trying to get any info from the official sources about length of sound cuts and 'why do we see pictures of empty rooms for ages' type questions etc etc.
I dont think thats your area though.

That sequence had us viewers in stitches as well. I do so hope they do a 'Rubys moments' compilation of the week.
Sting was nearbye?. he should have dropped in and done a masterclass

Anyway...
Welcome!!, nice to have someone who is involved with these shows on this forum!.

There's quite an interesting article on Media Guardian about the issues surrounding Fame Academy being re-commissioned... not as black and white as you'd think....

The cuts to rooms and the outside, officialy is to protect the privicy of the celebs or not to show Will using the fan to cut his nose off. However sad that i am workin for 11hours on the project I was going home and watching interactive. I notice that the people responsible for what goes out did a v v bad job. Part of it is them and a budget thing. Given more time they may have been able to blank out just a few words not 1min sections. I found some of it unwatchable. If it was a good bit I phoned up my team to find out what was said.
Sorry to change the subject but i am watching the Honey Trap on CH5 and Jeramy From FA is on but his name on this is alistar whats that about?

I think the difference between Celebrity Fame Academy and the BB clones, is where BB dwells on conflict and hatred, we enjoyed watching the celebs on FA genuinely getting on. Maybe a bit sickly for some, but I really enjoyed it and felt uplifted watching it. I was vocal in the BB3 forum when I criticised the producer's inclination to invent ways to bring about conflict. I got flamed for that. I don't really want to see artificial confilcts introduced into these formats. I didn't watch the regular FA, and I won't watch FA2 if it happens, but Celeb FA was a great hit.
