Teletext go... PINK?!?!?

Is it just my FV box, or has Teletext (on C4 at least) gone pink?

It's horrible...

Pink here too - don't know what they're thinking. Blue/yellow was "classy" this is awful!

I guess it's related to this:

(though that said March 9th, not the 8th)

Perhaps it's because it's International Womens Day today.

maybe its just me, but what does teletext offer that the web doesn't? (aside from the 1/4 screen of a TV channel)

dont get me wrong teletext was a great thing in its day, and IMO a forerunner to the web (just via TV rather than phone line) however i have no use for it now, even less since I get freeview, EPG removes any need for the teletext TV pages, which is what I used it for must before

Teletext is purple for the forseeable future now.
As mentioned in numerous threads, it has unveiled a new identity campaign, which is now purple.

Make your views known

If you don't like this new background colour, then write off to the dutyeditor@teletext.co.uk and make your views known!
I think it's horrible and whoever came up with this colour scheme must be colour blind, plus there was nothing wrong with the blue/yellow they had before.

I am a little colour blind, and it is difficult to read the text with the new colour combination!

No its not, it is the new-look, as you'll see by reading the existing thread linked to earlier, or by looking at the Teletext website.

It's a terrible mess, looks like a 2 year old put it together when it's compared to the recent blue one. So many colour clashes.

Well, considering the content on Teletext is now duplicated on their website, nothing!

Personally I like browsing Teletext during ad breaks, waiting for programmes to start etc, and a quick look at the news, weather, etc there is faster and easier than booting up some web browsing capable machine (which may well be in a different room, or an entirely different floor) and looking there. It's also faster than calling up BBCi News Multiscreens, or even looking at the news on BBCi (which is spread over about ten different sections each with at least two pages, and is so much hassle it's hardly worth bothering with)

Teletext's just-over-a-single-page-worth of headlines is ideal for seeing what is going on. If you decide you want far more information on a story, you are sitting in front of the telly, so why not tune into News24

It complements rather than replaces the Web, and vice-versa.

Oh, and not everybody has an Internet connected computer.

Chris

Personally I always hop straight to page 805 on Teletext. When I'm looking at news/weather, I always use BBCi (or "Oracle" as I still call it....).

It's not pink. It's magenta. Says so on page 998.

Pink or magenta, doesn't matter. I still have difficulty making out the text on the highlighted bar. Makes me feel like i'm in some cheesy 70s disco.

If this cost 8million, somebody must have too much time and money on their hands. Oh, and Changing Rooms' phone number...

I take that point, I use music channles and radio for that, advantage of a twin tuner (picture in picture)

whatever works for you, im just not 100% for all fancy BBCi stuff you get, teletext might just be passed its prime, espically when you get a service like BT Vision (TV via web) I assume you can view the web via that.

It looks awful. I have no vision problems but even I know it's hard to read. Even worse the "Video Off" option now only taints the picture purple and dims the brightness a bit so serves no purpose...thought I guess that was the idea. I was always suprised that the worst traditional broadcaster allowed their picture to be removed when viewing text.

I quite like the new look, especially the new logo. The only thing I see wrong are the weather maps, but it lacks an original font like the last look.
Page 998 has always said magneta in the blue/yellow look.
