Wasn't FA1 on in December? I remember them going out to do some carol singing at one point. Used to enjoy the songwriting sessions, too. Was a great show.

Shame it was pulled.
Didnt Ainslie have to do the washing up the night that all the ex students came back to the academy for christmas dinner as punishment for the food fight? |

I always thought throughout the second series of FA that Kevin never seemed to take to the students the way he did with Ainslie and Co in series one. I suppose the same could be said of Jeremy and Carrie.
There was many a night well after lessons etc were over that they would sit and chat and have a laugh and a sing song with the students. You never got the feeling in series two that they connected with the students in the same way. In my opinion the tutors probably reflected the feelings of viewers too. Lawn Darts was never quite up there with singalongs of "The Bad Bad Butcher" and the "whipping"! |

I have heard Ainslie's name mentioned several times by Carrie and by Kevin. I know Ainslie is still making music, but the last I heard of it, it didnt seem to live up to the promise of FA, although tbf I havent really given it a listen

FA was also my favourite reality series. It didn't have as many sound dips as BB, so we could actually follow conversations.
I used to love the relationship between Ainslie and Malachi, they developed a beautiful friendship. Remember the time Ainslie returned to the house, slightly worse for wear , and proceeded to hang from the christmas tree? I also loved Alistair's relationship with James. I could sit for hours listening to their banter. I miss it so....

Does anyone remember the night that Jeremy took Sinead, Lemar and David to a jazz bar after bbc3 viewers voted for them after the final 5 sang their version of My Way. Malachi and Ainslie were left behind in the house with Kevin and Carrie. Malachi spent the whole night worrying that Jeremy would try it on with Sinead!!lol!!

edit: maybe it was after one of the live Friday shows... If they used one of the red button channels to rerun FA1's streaming, I'd watch it... Last edited by enigmatic2 : 16-03-2007 at 21:02. |

The reunion was after the final four were out carol singing. That was a great night. They had a sleepover and the bedroom was decorated with fairy lights.
I also remember that night because a very bitter Chris and Marli slagged Sinead off to David saying she didnt deserve to be there and that they wanted him to win. Oh i could have gone through the TV that night to thump the pair of them!! |

Last reports of Chris were that he had disappeared up his own a***!

Aaaargh! *Goes into 13 year old mode again* I LOVED the first series of FA with Ainslie, Sinead and Malachi, Ainslie was my favourite and i was slightly obsessed with him (I cried like a baby when he went out
) There is sooo many memories: "Awww your wee windscreen wiper!" - Ainslie and malachi one drunk evening Kevin, Sinead, Malachi, and Ainslie were lying in a circle and kevin asked them who they hated the most and they all said Ainslie and started tickling him. Sinead and malachi's relationship was so sweet I hated David though, didn't like his personality or singing voice whatsoever. I went to the FA tour for my 14th birthday and It was brilliant! I got Ainslies autograph and I couldn't believe it. Sorry for going on but I miss it so much and am going to find my FA dvd

I understand it can't have gone on forever, but reading this thread has made me even more nostalgic. My favourites were Ainslie, Malachi and especially, David. A bit weird really, because I remember Ainslie and David didn't really hit it off. I also like Pippa and was a bit disappointed when she went so early in the series.I never went to the tour (no one would come with me, and I was a too young to go by myself) but I did buy the book, and I was reading that the other day, before CRDFA came on. Seeing Jeremy always makes me feel nostalgic, for some reason, although so do Kevin and Carrie for that matter. FA2 - Hated Alex Parks from Day 1. OK, maybe 'hate' is a bit of a strong word, but I never warmed to her. So that put a dampener on the series a bit for me really. I remember crying when Carolynne was expelled, and my parents not letting me use the house phone to vote for Alistair! It never had any of the magic FA1 did. |

I absolutely loved FA1. It was a really special event that kept me at home nearly every day so I could watch the wall to wall live streaming! Sadly, I think it was one of those times that can never be repeated, as I could never find the same involvement with FA2.
In the unlikely event of the Beeb attempting a third series, it would only work for me if they could re-capture the eclectic mix of people from the first series. It's such a shame that the approach of developing singer/songwriters didn't carry through to the real world as all that happened was David, Sinead and Ainslie were just used as vehicles to sell pop music for the short term once the show ended. Had that same series been made today they would have been given more opportunities as the singer/songwriter is now what is in vogue. I'm a fan of David and he has followed his own ethic of what he wants out of the music business. Lemar may well have the higher profile career as far as the media is concerned nowadays, but for me David was, and is the winner still. Lemar seems more wrapped up in all the trappings whilst David is quietly earning a good living in the background doing what he enjoys best. He's happy with his life and it has made him a millionaire so some good did come out of the programme in a round about way!

I've just watched a DVD that someone did for me during FA1. It's the said night when just Ains, Mal and Kev were left alone in the Academy.
It's the only thing I brought up to Mothers with me apart from the official DVD's and I am in tears I've been laughing so much. *Shakes head* so many outstanding gems I could watch if only they weren't 400 miles away.BAH. I wanna watch Camilla coming on to Lemar, Awards night, Katie and her pink slippers and her calls for "Jermy", Ains clearing up the cornflakes, etc etc etc. I have no idea how to put it on You-tube but give me a month or so when nephew with techy knowledge gets back from the Antipodes and I'll ask him. See, this is why I record everything I can. Four and a bit years on and who knew I'd enjoy it probably more than I did the first time round. Distance definitely DOES lend enchantment.

I was amazed at how many of the former FA students are still out there performing, writing and making very good music, both solo and with various bands.
If you go to Myspace you can find brand new songs from David, Ainslie, Malachi, Sinead, Marli, Peter, Alistair (and his band Albion), James, Nick, Gary, Audley, Pippa, Camilla, Chris Manning.....Simone's band Siani, and Paris in Smokin Circus. Check them out if you have the time, they may not be in the charts but I can assure you that it will be worth your while!
