Tonight's Corrie
SoapyJo
15-03-2003
The only exciting part in tonights Corrie was when Martin and Tommy dived into the water to save the family.
Apart from that I was very disapointed.
I guess I wouldn't have been disapointed if I hadn't had known what was going to happen.

Maybe I should stay away from spoilers in future.

What did you lot think of it tonight?

It was ok! That was really the only 'exciting' part! I'm new to this board! Read my reply to 'Gails garage board', and you'll see why I'm here!

I missed the first 10 minutes of Friday's Corrie which I understand was the best bit. I swithched on at 12.10 a.m. on ITV2 as listed on the Sky Digital EPG but found it had already started. It soon became obvious that the episode had actually begun at 10 mintutes earlier at midnight as it finished at 12.30 a.m. However, the EPG still showed the time as 12.10 and the following programme as at 12.40 a.m.
I will have to try to catch the omnibus edition later this afternoon

That was a very deep canal!!
Apart form Ship canals, most canals are only 3 to 4 feet deep in the middle and some are very shallow.

IIRC it was the Manchester Ship Canal. Also, didn't the water look very clear underneath!! In reality the water would've been very murky and dirty.

You're right, it was shallow. That's why they had to cut the roof off another car and use that when showing the 'sinking' scene. The whole car would have been too high.

I think they said that they had to use 5 (or 6) identical cars to shoot the whole sequence.

All the canals by me are so shallow that you couldn't submerge a bike, let a lone a car.

I live quite close to the birmingham to Worcester canal, I would say its about 7-8 foot deep when its been drained.

The 'rescue' scenes were recorded in a pool [or tank] (you could tell by the clear water & echoes).

you didnt think all those precious luvvies would go in filthy canal water?
How would we have seen anything if they filmed it in the real canal? Round here the local cuts filthy

it was actually filmed in Fleetwoods Nautical College - which is a purpose built pool used for Offshore Oil Rig training (underwater helecopter escape)
