I find music annoying. Half the time I can not hear the dialogue.

Crossroads originally had 'mood themes' made for it by Tony Hatch, in later years they used some sort of production music CD as Crossroads had tracks within it that Prisoner Cell Block H and the Young Doctors had also used.

Yes thats right. I recall watch PCBH, SAD, NIEGHBOURS and other grundy productions in the 80s and they all had the same background music for sad, angry, tence, thrilling scenes!

Ahhh the good old 80s when soaps were worth watching. How sad todays soaps have become.
